No. In August 2024, DC Studios co-head James Gunn rejected a reported video game set in the universe of Matt Reeves’ 2022 film The Batman, saying there was “no truth” to the rumor. His response addressed that specific proposed spin-off—not every Batman or DC game.
What did James Gunn say about the reported game?
In late August 2024, a report circulated about a possible game connected to the world of The Batman, the Robert Pattinson-led film. Asked on Threads whether Warner Bros. had a game in development based on the movie, Gunn replied, “Sadly there is no truth to this whatsoever,” according to Engadget’s August 31, 2024 report. GameSpot also reported the denial on August 30, 2024.

What was the rumor about?
The rumor concerned a game tied to Reeves’ Batman film universe, rather than a general new Batman game. GameSpot said the report also suggested a game based on HBO’s The Penguin, which takes place in that universe, but noted that the report offered little supporting detail. The underlying Puck article is not independently established here, so the specific scope is best understood through the contemporaneous accounts by Engadget and GameSpot.
Does this mean DC has no Batman games?
No. Gunn’s denial was about the reported game based on the Pattinson-Reeves continuity. It should not be read as a denial of unrelated Batman games or other DC projects. GameSpot’s August 2024 article mentioned Batman: Arkham Shadow and a Wonder Woman game as separate projects then in development; that report does not establish their later status.

How does this fit DC’s broader game plans?
In a January 2023 interview with DC, Gunn and Peter Safran discussed games as one possible way to connect stories across DCU films. Gunn offered a Krypto game as an example of a story that could bridge films. In the same interview, he described Reeves’ The Batman as “its own thing” and said the plan was for Reeves’ story to continue. That earlier strategy discussion provides context, but it did not announce a game based on Reeves’ Batman.

The confirmed answer in the contemporaneous reporting is that Gunn denied the rumor in August 2024. That dated denial does not establish whether a new proposal has emerged since then. For a present-day development update, look for a later official announcement from DC or Warner Bros.; the 2024 reports alone cannot settle any subsequent change.
