The clip most likely meant by “the viral moment” comes from Sentebale chair Sophie Chandauka’s 30 March 2025 interview on Sky News. She accused Prince Harry of “harassment and bullying at scale” and described a breakdown inside the charity. Those were her allegations, not established findings: the Charity Commission later found no evidence of widespread or systemic bullying or harassment, while identifying serious governance failures at Sentebale.
What happened in the Sky News interview?
On 30 March 2025, Chandauka appeared on Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips on Sky News. As ABC reported, she said Harry’s public statement amounted to “harassment and bullying at scale,” alleged that he had not told the board about his resignation in advance, and claimed there had been interference with an investigation into her complaints. She also described disputes involving fundraising, a polo event, and a request for a statement about the Duchess of Sussex. Chandauka clarified that she was not accusing Harry of misogyny. These are accounts she gave in the interview; they are not, by themselves, proof of misconduct.
The available reporting identifies the Sky News interview, but does not establish a particular isolated clip or an independently verified view count. Calling it viral therefore does not supply a measurable reach.
Why did Sentebale’s leadership dispute escalate?
The disagreement had a governance and fundraising context. Sentebale’s trustees sought to implement a new US fundraising strategy in 2023. The Charity Commission says a serious dispute followed between Chandauka, some trustees, and Harry, who was a patron. The charity was also dealing with strategic and financial difficulties in the period after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Concerns about the breakdown in relationships were first raised with the Charity Commission in February 2025. In March, Harry and fellow patron Prince Seeiso announced that they were resigning in solidarity with trustees who had also left. Their joint statement said the relationship between the chair and trustees had broken down beyond repair. The departing trustees said they had lost trust and confidence in Chandauka.
Sentebale disputed that framing. It said a board restructuring announced on 25 March was part of its transformation agenda, while Chandauka said she had raised governance concerns. The Commission opened a regulatory compliance case in April 2025 to assess trustees’ duties under charity law; it said its role was not to adjudicate or mediate the internal dispute.
What did the Charity Commission find?
In findings published on 6 August 2025, the Commission identified mismanagement in the charity’s administration. It said the process for delegating powers to Chandauka—including consideration of an “executive chair” role—was confusing and poorly governed. It also found that trustees lacked proper internal processes for investigating complaints and clear policies for handling them.
On the central conduct allegations, the Commission found no evidence of widespread or systemic bullying or harassment, including misogyny or misogynoir. It also found no evidence of “over-reach” by either Chandauka as chair or Harry as patron. That conclusion is specific to the evidence and issues the Commission considered; it should not be enlarged into a claim that every allegation or possible dispute was independently adjudicated.

The Commission acknowledged that several parties had a strong perception of ill-treatment and that the dispute had personal impacts. It concluded that all the trustees then in office contributed to a missed opportunity to resolve the issues. It also criticized the parties for allowing the conflict to play out publicly, saying the dispute harmed Sentebale’s reputation and risked undermining public trust.
“Sentebale’s problems played out in the public eye, enabling a damaging dispute to harm the charity’s reputation, risk overshadowing its many achievements, and jeopardising the charity’s ability to deliver for the very beneficiaries it was created to serve.”

— David Holdsworth, Chief Executive of the Charity Commission
The Commission’s action plan called for an internal dispute policy, stronger complaints and whistleblowing procedures, clearer delegation processes, and sufficient funding for beneficiaries. Holdsworth said the case showed “what can happen when there are gaps in governance and policies critical to charities’ ability to deliver for their cause.”

How to distinguish the competing claims
| Speaker or source | What was said or found | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Sophie Chandauka, March 2025 Sky News interview | Accused Harry of “harassment and bullying at scale” and made other claims about the dispute and complaints. | Her allegations and account; not a regulator finding. |
| Harry and Prince Seeiso, March 2025 statement | Said the relationship between trustees and the chair had broken down beyond repair; they resigned as patrons in solidarity with departing trustees. | Their stated position. |
| Charity Commission, August 2025 findings | Found governance and complaints-handling failures amounting to mismanagement; found no evidence of widespread or systemic bullying or harassment, or over-reach by the chair or patron. | Regulator’s published conclusions within the scope of its compliance case. |
| Sentebale, April 2026 announcement | Said it commenced High Court proceedings against Harry and Mark Dyer over an alleged coordinated adverse media campaign. | The charity’s allegation, not a court determination in the announcement. |
What happened after the Commission’s findings?
On 10 April 2026, Sentebale said it had commenced High Court proceedings against Harry and Mark Dyer. The charity alleged they were responsible for a coordinated adverse media campaign beginning on 25 March 2025, and said it was seeking protection and restitution for operational disruption and reputational harm. Those claims are Sentebale’s allegations; the announcement does not establish that a court found them to be true.
In the same announcement, Sentebale said its work serves 78,000 young lives and that development-sector funders maintained 100% of their financial commitment during the period it described. These are figures reported by the charity, not findings independently verified by the Commission.
