What is Incoming about?
Netflix describes the setup this way: “Their first week of high school. The biggest party of the year. Mistakes will be made as four teenage boys navigate a night of mayhem and debauchery.” The story centers on four freshmen facing the social pressure and uncertainty of entering high school, with a party setting the stage for the night’s chaos.

In Netflix Tudum’s feature about the film, co-director and co-writer Dave Chernin said, “This is the type of movie that hadn’t come along in a while.” The brothers framed the story around an early-life identity crisis: the awkward, high-stakes feeling of trying to work out who you are while everyone around you seems to be watching.
Who made the film, and what inspired it?
Brothers Dave Chernin and John Chernin wrote and directed Incoming. Netflix Tudum identifies it as their feature-film debut and notes their earlier television work on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The Mick. The directors cite Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Can’t Hardly Wait, and Superbad as influences.

John Chernin recalled the image that helped spark the idea: “I remember me and Dave sitting by a window with the lights off just looking into the backyard at this raging high school house party next door thinking that is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Who is in the cast?
Netflix lists Mason Thames, Ramon Reed, Raphael Alejandro, Isabella Ferreira, Bardia Seiri, Loren Gray, Ali Gallo, Scott MacArthur, Thomas Barbusca, and Kaitlin Olson. Netflix’s acquisition announcement also names Bobby Cannavale. Tudum says Olson plays Benj’s mother, while Gray plays the school’s self-assured “cool girl.”

Netflix also describes the film with labels including “Raunchy” and “Irreverent,” which signal that it is not a mild, family-oriented high-school comedy.
