What IMDb’s rankings measure
The word “anticipated” can suggest a survey of what people intend to watch. IMDb’s method instead uses activity on its own service: movie page views represented by IMDbPro MOVIEmeter rankings, and proprietary weekly TV rankings for both series lists. IMDb said its data reflected page views from more than 250 million monthly visitors worldwide; that audience figure and the description of the method are IMDb’s own claims, not independently audited statistics.
The three lists should be read separately. A first-place movie, new series, and returning series each leads its own category; their positions are not a common score that can be compared across lists. IMDb did not publish scores or the size of the gaps between ranks, and the release does not establish how much interest existed beyond IMDb.

For details on the methodology and complete lists, see IMDb’s January 2, 2025 announcement. The ranking is a historical preview based on 2024 activity; it does not establish present-day popularity or where a title can currently be watched.

IMDb’s announcement says users can add titles to an IMDb Watchlist and receive alerts when they become available. Streaming availability varies by title, territory, and date, so the 2025 rankings alone cannot identify a current platform.

For readers interested in the top-ranked film’s physical edition, Warner Bros. Japan lists a Superman (2025) 4K UHD plus Blu-ray set with a November 19, 2025 release date. That listing is specific to Japan; it does not confirm the edition, availability, or regional compatibility in other markets. See Warner Bros. Japan’s official home-entertainment listing.
