IDFA’s 2026 competition and complete-program announcement is scheduled for October 13, ahead of the festival’s November 12–22 run. The announcement is associated with Alex Gibney’s Musk and the Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything, but the accessible official IDFA pages do not yet verify either film’s competition section, screening date, venue or ticket status.
When IDFA will announce its 2026 lineup
IDFA’s published schedule sets October 13, 2026, as the announcement date for the Luminous, Frontlight, International, Envision and DocLab competitions, as well as the opening film and cross-section awards. The festival itself runs from November 12 through November 22, 2026.

IDFA’s press information schedules the presentation for Tuesday, October 13, at 14:30 CEST. Artistic Director Isabel Arrate Fernandez and Head of New Media Caspar Sonnen are due to present the films and new-media projects nominated for the competitions, together with the festival’s opening film.
The program overview says the edition will include more than 250 films and new-media projects. It also states that the complete lineup will be announced on October 13.

What is confirmed about Musk?
Musk is directed by Alex Gibney. The Biennale di Venezia lists it in Venice Open – Out of Competition, with a running time of 225 minutes plus a 10-minute intermission. That is confirmed Venice information, not evidence that the film is in an IDFA competition.
Nothing in the accessible IDFA pages establishes whether Musk is selected for International Competition, another IDFA section, or a non-competitive presentation. They also do not establish an IDFA screening date, venue or ticket status. Those details should be taken from IDFA’s live program once the October 13 announcement is published.
What is the Elizabeth Holmes documentary You Can See Everything?
You Can See Everything is directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. Distributor listings describe a three-year filmmaking journey in which Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical crew to document her before she goes to prison. The film is listed with a 175-minute runtime by VVS Films.
A24 and VVS Films list October 16, 2026, as the planned theatrical release date. A theatrical date does not confirm an IDFA selection or indicate that the film will screen at the festival. As with Musk, the retrieved IDFA material does not identify a competition section, screening date, venue or ticket availability for this title.

How to read the announcement without overclaiming
The headline linking these films to IDFA’s competition announcement should not be treated as proof that both titles are competition entries. Festival coverage often combines an announcement date with films expected to be discussed, while the precise section assignment appears only in the festival’s detailed program. Venice’s classification of Musk and the distributors’ information about You Can See Everything describe separate events and release plans.
For the authoritative answer, consult IDFA’s live 2026 program after the October 13 presentation. That listing should be the basis for any claim about a competition category, screening schedule, cinema, tickets or availability. Until then, the defensible facts are the festival dates, the October 13 announcement schedule, the films’ directors and the independently documented Venice and theatrical-release information.
