Ana Saura is missing; her uncle, lawyer and university professor Juan Elías, is found disoriented after a serious car accident with blood and Ana’s phone in his vehicle. He says he cannot remember the crash or his own life, leaving the investigation—and the viewer—to weigh his claims against the evidence and the people around him.
What is I Know Who You Are about?
The story begins with Elías wandering on a road after a traffic accident, unable to say who he is or how he got there. The discovery of blood and Ana’s phone in his car makes him a focus of the search, but it does not settle what happened. His memory, the evidence, and the accounts offered by relatives and investigators all remain in question.
That uncertainty is the engine of the series. The official synopsis frames the search as a conflict involving two families, while episode summaries widen suspicion and shift assumptions about Ana’s fate and the credibility of Elías’s amnesia. The title should not be read as proof of guilt: the show’s central question is how much anyone can know when memory and testimony are contested.
How the mystery unfolds
Amnesia as a source of doubt
Elías’s claimed memory loss creates a problem for both the investigation and his family. He cannot provide a reliable account of the accident or his life, while those around him must decide whether the amnesia is genuine. An official episode phrase asks, “¿Era cierta la amnesia de Elías?”—“Was Elías’s amnesia real?” It captures the show’s central tension without resolving it.

A disappearance with consequences for two families
Ana’s absence reaches beyond a single missing-person case. The official episode descriptions introduce family suspicion, prison visits, and changing beliefs about whether she may still be alive. The suspense comes from withheld information and shifting interpretations rather than a simple case-of-the-week structure.
A spoiler-light viewing expectation
The series keeps widening the field of doubt, so its appeal lies partly in revising first impressions. A later episode phrase, “Ana podría no estar muerta” (“Ana might not be dead”), shows how the story can alter what seems possible. The finale was billed by Telecinco as resolving what happened to Ana; viewers who want to preserve the mystery may prefer to avoid episode descriptions and promotional material beyond the opening setup.

Who made the series, and how was it released?
Pau Freixas created Sé quién eres for Telecinco, which premiered it on 16 January 2017. In a Telecinco interview headline published on 19 May 2015, Freixas said, “Después de ‘Pulseras rojas’ me apetecía hacer una serie de suspense” (“After Pulseras rojas, I felt like making a suspense series”). The interview description identifies a young woman’s disappearance and a professor’s amnesia after a traffic accident as the starting point. Telecinco’s interview with Pau Freixas.
Mediaset International Sales lists one season, 16 episodes, Spanish audio, and a 70-minute episode duration. Streaming listings may show different runtimes, so the distributor’s figure is best understood as its stated format rather than a guarantee about every platform’s displayed duration. The distributor says the series has reached 113 territories; its page does not specify when that sales count was recorded. It also describes the show as the first Mediaset production broadcast in the UK and Australia and the only Spanish series selected for MIP Drama Screenings 2016. Mediaset International Sales.

What is the pace and tone?
I Know Who You Are is a suspense-driven family mystery, not a brisk procedural. Its long episodes and serialized structure give room to build competing explanations, but they also ask for patience as information is withheld and suspicion moves between characters.
In a review published on 17 January 2017, El País praised the show’s measured suspense and the way characters conceal information, calling it an “oasis” in Telecinco’s schedule. The same review questioned whether 16 long episodes risked stretching the story or overwhelming viewers with twists. That is one critic’s contemporary judgment, not a consensus assessment.
