Jennifer Kaytin Robinson directed and co-wrote the film. Sony credits Leah McKendrick and Robinson with the story, Sam Lansky and Robinson with the screenplay, and Neal H. Moritz as producer.

Which original cast members return?
Jennifer Love Hewitt returns as Julie James, and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprises Ray Bronson. Netflix Tudum also identifies Sarah Michelle Gellar as returning as Helen Shivers. These legacy roles tie the new group’s predicament to the 1997 story. The Associated Press described the July 18, 2025 release as a new installment with Hewitt and Prinze Jr. reprising their original roles.

The Associated Press lists July 18, 2025 as the film’s theatrical release date. Sony currently lists 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and digital formats, and names Amazon among retailers.
