What is Touch Me about?
In a ScreenRant group interview republished by The Filibuster Blog on February 1, 2025, the film is described as following Joey, who escaped a toxic relationship with an alien disguised as a human. Years later, she leans on her codependent best friend, Craig. The alien, Brian, returns with a touch that is dangerously addictive, drawing the pair toward his sinister agenda. The premise makes physical pleasure unsettling: what feels irresistible can also become a means of control. The interview’s description gives the film room to move between science-fiction, horror, and comedy, rather than treating the alien encounter as a straightforward romance or sex gag.
Why does the cast call it surprisingly emotional?
Heimann’s personal starting point
Writer-director Addison Heimann said the project drew partly on his experiences with depression and OCD, as well as inspiration from the Mexican horror film The Untamed. He described imagining anxiety and depression being “zapped away” through an extreme erotic encounter with an alien. That is his artistic premise, not a claim that sex, a film, or any other experience treats mental illness.

Characters shaped by vulnerability
Jordan Gavaris said Craig’s trauma can become an “Achilles heel,” while also stressing that trauma does not always define a person. Olivia Taylor Dudley said she connected with Joey through OCD and anxiety, and hoped viewers might feel seen. Those comments describe the performers’ relationship to their roles; they are not mental-health guidance.
Heimann described a broader aim for his work: “I want people to have a good time, but my whole goal with film is to make queer movies in the genre space about mental illness. And regardless of the comedy, I want to make movies that make people feel less alone, and I hope that they feel less alone.” Marlene Forte, by contrast, emphasized wanting audiences to have fun. Together, those perspectives explain the tonal balancing act: transgressive comedy and an erotic monster premise can coexist with earnest attention to loneliness and connection.

Who stars in Touch Me?
The interview names Olivia Taylor Dudley as Joey, Jordan Gavaris as Craig, Lou Taylor Pucci as Brian, and Marlene Forte among the cast. Pucci’s line about wanting people to be horny speaks to the film’s provocative surface, while the other remarks reveal the emotional ideas the filmmakers hoped that surface could carry.
How does the film stage its alien world?
Heimann said he wanted to pay homage to Japanese cinema, naming House and Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters as influences. He described shifting aspect ratios when the story moves from its in-world reality into the alien space, which is staged like a theatrical set and built around practical, tangible elements. As he put it: “It’s like we’re doing our in-world reality stuff and then once we hit the kind of world in the alien space, we change aspect ratios. We’re on a stage. Everything is practical, everything is tangible, and everything is homage.”

That stage-like approach offers a clear contrast with the story’s surreal premise: the alien world can feel deliberately constructed and physical, rather than presented as an invisible digital backdrop. Gavaris also recalled a physically uncomfortable day working with sticky, cold practical effects, a production memory that fits the film’s interest in making the fantastic tactile.
