The modern edition of I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is already available. The PlayStation Store lists its PS4 and PS5 release date as March 27, 2025, and Nightdive announced the PC, Mac, and Linux “Definitive Update” for Steam and GOG on October 16, 2025.
When did the remaster come out?
There is no upcoming release date to wait for: the console release and PC update have both happened. The PlayStation Store listing identifies PS4 and PS5 versions and gives March 27, 2025 as the release date. Nightdive’s October 16, 2025 announcement says the Definitive Update was released on Steam and GOG for PC, Mac, and Linux.
Nightdive’s official game page also links to Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo storefronts and labels the game available now. Store availability and edition details may differ by platform and region, so check the relevant storefront for the version you want.
What does the Definitive Update add?

What kind of game is it?
I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream is a point-and-click psychological horror adventure based on Harlan Ellison’s short story. Players take the roles of five people being tormented by AM, a powerful computer; the game centers on emotionally charged dilemmas and offers multiple endings. Nightdive says Ellison voiced AM.

It is not light documentary viewing or a conventional puzzle adventure. The official descriptions flag violence, blood and gore, sexual themes, and psychological and adult-oriented material. Readers sensitive to those subjects should consult the storefront content notices before playing.
Is there a physical edition?
Atari lists a PS5 physical edition, but its product page says preorders have ended and the item is sold out. That listing does not establish current availability from other retailers, so check a live retailer listing if you are looking for a disc copy.

Why do sources give different original release years?
The current edition’s 2025 dates are distinct from the original game’s release date. Atari describes the original as a 1995 release, while Steam lists October 31, 1996. Those official listings conflict, so neither year should be presented as an uncontested answer without further clarification.
