The most defensible comparison is between the relatives whose combat abilities are shown or credibly described, while keeping direct fighting ability separate from assassination skill and Nanika’s wish-granting power. On the available evidence, Zeno and Silva are the best-established senior fighters, but their exact order—and the placement of several other relatives—cannot be settled confidently.
How this ranking works
This is an editorial comparison, not an official family power chart. It focuses on combat capability shown or credibly described in Hunter × Hunter, rather than treating every supernatural or special ability as a measure of ordinary fighting strength.
Two factors matter, and they do not always point to the same answer:
- Direct combat: demonstrated Nen use, speed, power, and the ability to respond under pressure.
- Assassin effectiveness: stealth, tactical judgment, and how reliably a fighter can use an ability—especially when it requires preparation or special conditions.
The story gives substantially more to compare for some relatives than others. A low-confidence or unrankable placement means the manga and anime material considered here do not establish enough to make a fair comparison; it does not mean the character is weak.

The strongest established Zoldyck fighters
Zeno Zoldyck and Silva Zoldyck: the leading pair
Zeno and Silva have the clearest senior combat reputations among the family members considered here. The available evidence supports treating them as the leading pair, but not naming a certain winner: the material does not provide a consistent, head-to-head basis for ranking one above the other across all measures of combat.
That distinction matters. A character’s reputation and experience are relevant, but they are not a substitute for comparable demonstrations of performance. The evidence supports confidence in their standing as established fighters, not a precise family-wide score or definitive first and second place.

Illumi Zoldyck: a formidable assassin, harder to compare directly
Illumi’s place depends partly on what “strongest” means. His assassin effectiveness—especially the use of tactics and abilities that can shape an encounter—is not identical to a direct contest of demonstrated combat performance. The available material does not settle a reliable order between him and the senior pair or Killua across both axes.
Killua Zoldyck: exceptional talent still in development
Killua is a trained assassin and a major combatant. His named Nen abilities include Godspeed, which makes his speed and combat response central to any assessment. But comparisons with experienced adult relatives need to account for his age and stage of development; impressive abilities do not establish that he has surpassed the older fighters overall.

Kalluto Zoldyck: capable, with less comparative evidence
Kalluto has demonstrated skill, but the evidence available for this comparison is less developed than it is for the leading fighters. That makes a precise placement against Illumi or Killua uncertain rather than conclusive.
Why Nanika does not fit an ordinary combat ranking
Nanika’s wish-granting power can have consequences far beyond a conventional fight. But the ability to grant wishes is not the same thing as demonstrated skill in direct combat, and ranking Nanika as the family’s strongest fighter would collapse two different questions into one. For direct fighting ability, Nanika belongs outside the ordinary ranking; for the scale of a supernatural ability, the comparison would be different.

Relatives whose exact strength is unclear
Milluki and Kikyo
The available evidence does not offer enough comparable combat performance to place Milluki or Kikyo confidently in a strict order with the better-documented fighters. Avoid reading a lack of detailed combat evidence as proof of a particular strength level.
Maha, Zigg, and the unnamed older relatives
Maha, Zigg, and an unnamed grandmother are difficult to place because their combat evidence is too limited for a confident exact ranking. Family relationships and character details for less prominent relatives also rely on secondary, community-edited references; they should not be treated as settled beyond what the primary story establishes. The sensible conclusion is that these characters are unrankable on the evidence used here, not that they belong at the bottom.

What can—and cannot—be concluded
- Most established senior fighters: Zeno and Silva, without a defensible winner between them.
- Important but differently measured combatants: Illumi and Killua; their relative order depends on direct combat versus assassination criteria, and Killua’s development stage matters.
- Demonstrated skill, less comparative evidence: Kalluto.
- Not fairly rankable as ordinary fighters: Nanika, whose wish-granting ability is a separate category, and relatives whose combat evidence is too sparse for a confident placement.
