Spoilers for the complete Chimera Ant arc, including Meruem’s post-Rose transformation. Meruem is the strongest Chimera Ant at his peak. Below him, the Royal Guards form the next clear tier; their internal order and the placements of the non-royal ants are editorial judgments, not an official ranking. This list weighs demonstrated combat threat, durability, speed, Nen abilities, and tactical versatility—not rank or authority alone.
How to read this ranking
Meruem appears once, in his strongest form: after the Rose, when he absorbs parts of Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi. His earlier form is not counted as a separate entry. The King and Royal Guard hierarchy is the clearest part of the comparison; the ordering among the guards and the final four is less certain. There is no definitive official list ordering the eight strongest Chimera Ants.
The Chimera Ant colony includes ranks such as Squadron Leaders and Peons, but those titles do not establish a precise ranking of individual fighters. The lower placements below are therefore comparative assessments rather than canon rankings.
The 8 strongest Chimera Ants
1. Meruem, after the Rose
The Chimera Ant King is the clear first choice. Meruem defeats Isaac Netero in physical combat, surviving the chairman’s attacks and ultimately overcoming him. After the Rose, he absorbs parts of Shaiapouf and Menthuthuyoupi, gaining power beyond his already formidable pre-Rose state. That post-Rose version is the peak form ranked here.
#1 Best Overall
2. Neferpitou
Neferpitou is one of the King’s three Royal Guards and an exceptional Nen user. Their abilities and role in the palace invasion establish them as a major combat threat. Placing Pitou ahead of the other guards is a judgment call: the guards have different strengths, and the evidence does not provide a settled official order among them.
3. Menthuthuyoupi
Youpi’s Royal Guard status places him in the highest tier beneath Meruem. His direct-combat threat is central to the palace invasion, making him a strong choice for the highest non-King position among the guards in this ranking. That placement does not mean he is definitively stronger than Pitou or Pouf; it reflects the emphasis on direct combat rather than a claim that every measure of strength favors him.
4. Shaiapouf
Pouf is the third Royal Guard. His threat is not limited to straightforward physical force: his abilities offer utility and flexibility as well as combat potential. That breadth makes him dangerous, though this ranking places him below Youpi on direct combat threat. The difference is an editorial distinction between forms of strength, not a definitive canon verdict.
5. Zazan
Zazan is a candidate for the strongest non-Royal Guard position. She is ranked here below the guards, but the available evidence does not establish a precise, definitive comparison between her and the other non-royal contenders. Her placement should be read as an editorial estimate, not an official tier.

6. Leol
Leol’s borrowed abilities make him a situationally dangerous opponent. Versatility can create tactical advantages, but it is not the same as a higher level of raw power or durability. That distinction is why he sits below Zazan in this list; the exact ordering is not settled by an official ranking.
7. Cheetu
Cheetu is a fast Squadron Leader, but speed by itself does not determine overall combat strength. Tactical judgment, the ability to use an advantage effectively, and the opponent and circumstances involved all matter. The available evidence does not establish a settled placement for him among the lower entries.
Rank #4
8. Colt
Colt’s high standing within the colony indicates authority, but authority is not proof of superiority in direct combat. He is included here as a lower-ranked candidate, with more uncertainty than the King-and-Guard placements. This is the least secure position in the list: a named Squadron Leader such as Rammot could be a more suitable alternative if specific combat feats are used to determine the comparison.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the Royal Guards are hard to order
Meruem’s position above the guards is the clearest distinction in the hierarchy, especially when his post-Rose form is considered. Ranking the guards against one another is less straightforward because direct attack power, durability, speed, Nen utility, and combat judgment are different measures. A character can be more useful or versatile without being the stronger direct fighter in every matchup.

The same caution applies even more strongly to non-royal ants. Squadron Leader status or colony authority is not a substitute for comparing what an individual actually demonstrates in combat. The lower four are best treated as plausible candidates and placements, not a definitive canon top four.
