Howard Stern returned live to SiriusXM with co-host Robin Quivers on September 14, 2026, opening a new season of The Howard Stern Show. His future with the service was settled earlier: Stern announced a three-year renewal in December 2025. The new season brings a Monday live schedule on SiriusXM and an adapted episode version on HBO Max, with its first release on September 17.
Is Howard Stern coming back to SiriusXM?
Yes. Stern and Quivers returned live on September 14, 2026. SiriusXM had announced the new season on August 31, saying the exclusive live show would continue through 2028 and air on Mondays. The September return followed the show’s summer break; it was not the announcement of Stern’s decision to stay.
The uncertainty had been addressed in December 2025. The Associated Press reported that Stern announced he would continue with SiriusXM for another three years. He said he had found a way to have “more free time” while continuing on radio, and described his schedule as more flexible. AP noted that Stern did not provide many contract details.
What changed with the new season?
A Monday live show on SiriusXM
SiriusXM says the live show remains exclusive to its service, with new shows on Mondays. Its Howard Stern page lists channels 100 and 101. The announcement does not specify the exact number of live shows required under Stern’s contract.

An adapted version on HBO Max
HBO Max began carrying an adapted, streamable episode on September 17, 2026, with subsequent episodes scheduled for Thursdays, according to SiriusXM. This is a separate edited format—not an unedited simulcast of the live SiriusXM broadcast. SiriusXM says 40 cameras capture conversations for the video adaptation and that periodic extras are planned; those production details are the company’s description.

The company’s announcement also names Howard Stern Comes Again as a bestseller, a book for readers interested in Stern’s interviews and career.

Speculation about Stern’s future had circulated in 2025, including after a fake Andy Cohen handoff. AP’s account makes clear that the handoff was a prank, not a real succession announcement or evidence that SiriusXM had canceled the show. Stern then announced the three-year continuation in December 2025. SiriusXM’s August 2026 announcement confirmed the new season and described the live show as continuing through 2028.
