Puppy Bowl XXI is no longer live. The 21st edition aired in the United States on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. ET / 11:00 a.m. PT. It was officially simulcast on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TBS, truTV, Max and discovery+.
If you are trying to watch it now, search the current Max and discovery+ catalogs for a replay rather than assuming the special is still available. The original broadcast was not documented as a universally free stream. Some viewers may have accessed it through an existing pay-TV login or a temporary live-TV free trial, subject to eligibility and changing provider terms.

Can you watch Puppy Bowl 2025 free?
There was no evidence that Max, discovery+, or Animal Planet offered an unrestricted, no-account, free stream to everyone. “Free” could have meant one of several different things:
- Watching through a cable, satellite or live-TV subscription already in the household.
- Using a participating TV provider login to authenticate to a network website or app.
- Qualifying for a limited promotional trial from a live-TV streaming service.
- Finding an authorized replay that is included with an existing subscription.
A free trial is not the same as a permanently free stream. Trials may be restricted to eligible new customers, require a payment method, require a particular channel package and automatically convert to a paid subscription unless canceled under the provider’s terms. Never enter payment details or install software on a site claiming to offer an unauthorized Puppy Bowl rebroadcast.
How to watch Puppy Bowl XXI on Max
Max was an official streaming outlet for Puppy Bowl XXI. During the original broadcast window, viewers with an eligible Max subscription could have used the Max website or app on a supported device.
However, the original announcement does not establish that Max offered Puppy Bowl free of charge, and it does not confirm that the 2025 special remains in the current catalog. To look for a replay:

If the title does not appear, that means the current catalog has not made it available to your account or region at the time of your search. It does not make an unofficial streaming page a legitimate alternative.
How to watch Puppy Bowl XXI on discovery+
discovery+ was also named in the official Puppy Bowl XXI distribution announcement. The same caveat applies: inclusion in the original simulcast confirms where the event aired in 2025, not that the special is still available on demand or free today.
Search the current discovery+ catalog for Puppy Bowl and verify the specific season or special. Availability can change because streaming catalogs, regional rights and subscription plans are not permanent.
How to watch through DIRECTV or DIRECTV STREAM
DIRECTV satellite or traditional service
DIRECTV listed Animal Planet on channel 282. A DIRECTV customer whose package included Animal Planet could have watched the network feed when Puppy Bowl XXI aired. Channel numbers and package availability can vary by service and market, so check the current guide rather than relying on an old channel listing.

DIRECTV STREAM
DIRECTV STREAM was a plausible cord-cutting route because its live-TV service carried Animal Planet in the relevant lineup. DIRECTV’s support information also described streaming supported network content through network apps and websites.
DIRECTV advertised a five-day streaming trial during the period covered by the research. That does not mean the same offer is available now, that every reader qualifies, or that every package includes Animal Planet. Before signing up, confirm:
- Whether Animal Planet is included in the current package.
- Whether the service is available at your address.
- Whether you qualify as a new or returning customer.
- The trial length, billing date and cancellation rules.
- Whether the event is available as a replay rather than only through a live channel feed.
In short, DIRECTV STREAM may be useful for watching Animal Planet online, but a current free trial or a particular package should never be promised without checking the provider’s live offer.
Other live-TV options
Contemporaneous viewing guides also identified services including Philo, Fubo and Sling as possible ways to reach channels carrying Puppy Bowl XXI. These services can change their channel lineups, packages, prices and promotional eligibility. Check the current provider lineup for Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, TBS or truTV before subscribing.

For a historical 2025 viewing decision, the official Warner Bros. Discovery distribution list is the stronger source: it confirms the event’s original outlets, while third-party guides mainly provide cord-cutting context.
What you need to stream it
You need three things for an app-based replay or live stream:
- A compatible device: a smart TV, phone, tablet, computer or supported streaming player.
- An internet connection: streaming quality depends on your connection and home network.
- The required account or subscription: a device does not provide Max, discovery+, Animal Planet or the program itself.
If your television lacks the Max or discovery+ app, a 4K streaming stick or comparable HDMI streaming device can add supported apps to an older TV. It still requires internet access and the appropriate service account; buying the device does not include a Max or discovery+ subscription.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check for a replay in 2026
- Search Max for “Puppy Bowl XXI.”
- Search discovery+ for “Puppy Bowl” and check the year or episode information.
- Look for an official listing from Animal Planet or Warner Bros. Discovery.
- Confirm that the listing is available in your country and on your current plan.
- Do not assume that the 2025 simulcast remains available simply because Max or discovery+ carried it originally.
The available research confirms the original February 2025 distribution but does not establish the current on-demand status of Puppy Bowl XXI. That status must be checked immediately before publication or viewing.
