Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor a straightforward first watch, follow Naruto episodes 1–220, then Naruto: Shippuden episodes 1–493. Watch The Last: Naruto the Movie, finish Shippuden episodes 494–500, and continue with Boruto: Naruto Next Generations if you want the next-generation story. This recommended route keeps the central series easy to follow and places the most story-relevant film near the end of Shippuden.
The recommended first-watch order
- Naruto, episodes 1–220.
- Naruto: Shippuden, episodes 1–493.
- The Last: Naruto the Movie.
- Naruto: Shippuden, episodes 494–500.
- Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, if you want to follow the next generation.
This is a practical first-watch recommendation, not an official studio-mandated episode-by-episode chronology. The franchise includes multiple anime series and movies, as VIZ’s official Naruto page notes, but the reviewed viewing guides differ in their movie cut points.

Why watch The Last near the end of Shippuden?
The Last: Naruto the Movie is the key film to include near the end of the main Naruto story. Placing it after Shippuden episode 493 and before episodes 494–500 is a spoiler-conscious convention recommended by current watch-order guides, rather than a universally fixed chronology. The other feature films are generally optional side adventures and can be skipped without losing the core serial story.
Optional order with the movies interleaved
If you want to include the side films as you watch, this approximate sequence follows the episode placements given by GamesRadar+ and Popverse. These placements are viewing conventions: the movies do not all form indispensable links in one continuous timeline.

Which Naruto movies can you skip?
For the central Naruto-to-Shippuden story, the simplest choice is to watch The Last and treat the other films as optional. GamesRadar+ identifies Boruto: Naruto the Movie as a canon movie from the Boruto era, but its story is also represented in the Boruto anime. Choose the film or the anime adaptation route according to whether you prefer a movie-length version or the series’ retelling; you do not need both to follow the next-generation story.
Naruto Boutique reports eleven feature films, alongside 220 episodes for the original Naruto series, 500 for Shippuden, and 293 for the first Boruto anime part. These are counts published by that guide, not official audience or popularity statistics.

Finding the series to watch
Streaming catalogs vary by country and change with licensing, so check your local services for the exact title, episode coverage, and available subtitles or dub before subscribing. A service listing a Naruto title does not necessarily mean it carries every episode or film.
VIZ’s official catalog lists physical releases including Naruto Part 1, Shippuden Blu-ray sets, and movie collections. Check the episode coverage and region compatibility of a specific edition before buying; a set may contain only part of a long series.

Choosing between the two viewing routes
| Route | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended first-watch route | Viewers who want the central story in a simple sequence. | Leaves most side-film adventures out of the run. |
| Optional interleaved route | Viewers who want the films woven into the series as they go. | Adds substantial viewing and relies on approximate, spoiler-conscious episode placements. |
If you are new to the franchise, the first route is the easier starting point. Use the interleaved list if you already know you want the side stories as well.
