You can watch Disney+ in its app on supported TVs and connected devices, in the app on supported phones and tablets, or in a supported browser on a computer. For a TV that asks you to activate the app, scan its QR code or enter the eight-digit code shown on screen at DisneyPlus.com/begin. Availability depends on your device and country or territory.

The simplest route is usually the app made for the device you want to watch on. If you are using a computer, use the website in a supported, up-to-date browser. AirPlay, Chromecast, and HDMI are alternatives for viewing on a TV, but their setup depends on the hardware you already have. If you want to watch offline, plan around the download restrictions: Disney+ currently supports downloads only on eligible plans and supported mobile devices.

Choose the viewing route for your device

Device How to watch What to check
Smart TV or TV-connected device Open the Disney+ app. Supported options include smart TVs, streaming sticks, game consoles, and set-top boxes. You can also use supported AirPlay, Chromecast, or HDMI setups. Confirm that the exact model is supported in your territory. A device connected by HDMI must support video output and have compatible ports.
Phone or tablet Install or open the Disney+ app from the device’s app store, then sign in. Support depends on the model, its software, and your territory. Apple iPhones and iPads, Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Fire tablets are listed categories.
Computer Go to DisneyPlus.com in a supported current browser and sign in. Browser and operating-system requirements vary. Disney+ recommends using the latest browser version.

Disney+’s supported-device page, dated March 27, 2026, lists web browsers, mobile devices, tablets, streaming sticks, gaming consoles, smart TVs, and set-top boxes. Its list can vary by territory, so verify a particular device against the current regional information at Disney+ supported devices.

Pick a route based on where and how you watch

For regular viewing on one television, start by checking whether the TV itself or a device connected to it has the Disney+ app. That route keeps playback on the TV-connected device and, when prompted, uses the TV app’s own login or activation flow. A streaming stick, game console, or set-top box is also an app-based route; the fact that a device belongs to one of these broad categories does not by itself confirm that every model is supported.

If you already have a supported phone or tablet and want to watch on its screen, use the Disney+ mobile app. If your goal is to put a program on a TV from a compatible Apple or Chromecast setup, Disney+ lists AirPlay and Chromecast as options; follow the relevant casting instructions rather than entering the TV activation code. HDMI is another listed option, but it depends on the source device being able to output video over HDMI and on compatible ports or adapters.

A computer is a separate route: open DisneyPlus.com in a supported browser instead of assuming the mobile app or TV activation process applies. The computer option is useful when the device meets the browser requirements, while the mobile app is the route to consider if offline downloads matter. Disney+ does not provide a comparison of picture quality among app, browser, casting, or HDMI routes in the guidance reviewed, so choose based on compatibility, setup, and whether you need downloads rather than an assumed quality difference.

Watch Disney+ on a TV

Sign in or activate the TV app

  1. Open the Disney+ app on your smart TV, streaming stick, console, or set-top box. Install it from the device’s app store first if needed.
  2. Select Log In. If the TV displays a QR code, scan it with a phone or tablet and follow the prompts. Alternatively, open DisneyPlus.com/begin in a computer or mobile browser.
  3. Enter the eight-digit code displayed on the TV, then finish signing in.
  4. Return to the TV and select Start Streaming.

The activation sequence is for the Disney+ app on a TV-connected device. Disney+ directs viewers using AirPlay or Chromecast to its casting instructions instead; those routes do not use the TV activation flow. See How to watch Disney+ on your TV for the current instructions.

What to expect during activation

The TV and the browser or phone have different jobs in this process. The TV app displays the QR code or eight-digit code and waits for you to complete the sign-in steps elsewhere. The phone, tablet, or computer browser is where you scan the QR code or visit DisneyPlus.com/begin, enter the code if prompted, and finish signing in. Once that step is complete, return to the TV and choose Start Streaming to begin watching there.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Have the TV app open before entering the code so you can use the code currently on screen. If you accidentally leave the activation page or return to the TV after a long delay, follow the instructions displayed by the app rather than relying on an old code. Disney+’s published guidance specifies an eight-digit code and the activation sequence, but it does not set out a separate troubleshooting procedure for every device model.

Cast or connect with HDMI

Disney+ lists AirPlay, Chromecast, and HDMI as TV-viewing options. Use the relevant casting instructions for AirPlay or Chromecast. For HDMI, the source device must be able to send video over HDMI, and both ends need compatible ports; some devices may require an adapter. The support guidance does not specify cable requirements, so check the device maker’s instructions before buying or connecting accessories.

These alternatives are not interchangeable in every setup. AirPlay and Chromecast are casting routes, so first confirm that the device you are using and the receiving TV setup support the relevant method. HDMI is a physical connection and requires compatible hardware at both ends. If the source device has no video output over HDMI, plugging in a cable alone will not make it a suitable Disney+ TV setup. The reviewed Disney+ material does not identify a universal cable specification, adapter, or exact compatibility list for every phone, tablet, or computer, so verify those details with the device maker before purchasing anything.

For a supported TV app or connected-device app, use the app’s Log In and activation instructions. For a cast or HDMI setup, use the instructions for that route instead. This distinction can save time: entering a TV code is not the documented setup step for casting with AirPlay or Chromecast.

Watch on a phone or tablet

  1. Open the app store on your device and install Disney+, or open the app if it is already installed.
  2. Launch the app and sign in.
  3. Select a title to stream. If you want to watch without an internet connection, check the download rules and plan eligibility before relying on offline playback.

Disney+ lists Apple iPhones and iPads, Android phones and tablets, and Amazon Fire tablets among its supported mobile categories. These categories do not guarantee that every model or software version works: compatibility also depends on your territory. Check the current supported-device list if the app is unavailable or does not work on a particular device.

Use the device’s app store to find the app, then sign in through the app itself. If the app is already installed, you can go directly to opening it and signing in. The process does not use the TV activation page unless you are separately activating the app on a TV-connected device. A phone or tablet can be used for mobile viewing, and supported mobile devices may also be eligible for downloads, but eligibility depends on the device and plan as well as the title.

If the app does not appear in the store or the device does not work as expected, do not assume that a general label such as “Android tablet” guarantees support. Disney+ says support varies by territory, and its categories are not a promise that each model or software version is compatible. Compare the exact device with the current regional supported-device information before choosing another route.

Watch Disney+ on a computer

Open DisneyPlus.com in a current supported browser, sign in, and choose a title. Disney+ recommends the latest browser release. Its browser guidance, dated April 3, 2026, specifies:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Windows: Windows 10 or newer with the current Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Opera browser.
  • Mac: macOS 11 or newer with the current Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari browser.
  • ChromeOS: the latest Chrome browser.

For the current requirements, see Disney+ browser requirements. If playback or sign-in fails, first check that your operating system and browser meet the listed requirements and that the browser is up to date.

The requirements are not identical across operating systems. For example, the guidance lists Opera for Windows, but not for Mac; Safari is listed for Mac, but not Windows. ChromeOS is described in terms of the latest Chrome browser. That is why it is better to check the row for your computer’s operating system than to treat the listed browsers as a single universal set.

Use a current browser version, especially if the browser has not been updated recently. The published requirements give minimum operating-system versions for Windows and macOS and recommend the latest browser version. If your browser is not listed for your operating system, or your operating system is below the stated version, consult the current Disney+ requirements rather than assuming that a browser working for other websites will also meet Disney+’s requirements.

Watching through the website is distinct from installing the mobile app: go to DisneyPlus.com in the computer browser and sign in there. Under the current download guidance, a computer is not a supported destination for offline downloads. If you need to store titles for offline viewing, check whether a supported mobile device and eligible plan are available instead.

Know what can be downloaded for offline viewing

Downloads are limited to supported mobile devices and eligible plans. Disney+ says downloads are not currently available on TV-connected devices, computers, or Windows 10 and Windows 11 tablets. Some titles may not be downloadable. Downloaded content remains available while the subscription is active, provided the device connects to the internet at least once every 30 days. See Downloads on Disney+ for the current conditions.

If offline viewing is important, use a supported mobile device rather than assuming a TV, computer, or Windows tablet can store titles. Check whether the plan and specific title are eligible before travelling or losing internet access.

There are three separate checks to make before relying on a download:

  1. Device: Downloads are for supported mobile devices. Disney+ specifically says they are not currently available on TV-connected devices, computers, or Windows 10 and Windows 11 tablets.
  2. Plan: The plan must be eligible. Do not assume that streaming access alone means a particular plan includes downloads.
  3. Title and continued access: Some titles may not be downloadable. Downloaded content remains available while the subscription is active, and the device needs to connect to the internet at least once every 30 days.

These limits matter if you are choosing between a phone, tablet, TV, or computer before a trip or another period without internet access. A TV or computer may work for streaming when connected, but Disney+’s current guidance does not support downloads on those device types. A Windows 10 or 11 tablet is also specifically excluded from downloads even though tablets in other supported categories may be eligible. Check the current help page for the detailed conditions rather than treating all tablets as equivalent.

Fix common setup problems

  • The TV code does not work: Make sure you enter the eight-digit code currently displayed on the TV at DisneyPlus.com/begin and complete the sign-in prompts. If you have left the activation screen, reopen Log In in the TV app to get its current instructions.
  • The activation page does not complete sign-in: Confirm that you finished signing in in the same browser where you entered the code, then return to the TV and select Start Streaming.
  • The app is missing or unsupported: Check the exact device model and territory in Disney+’s supported-device list. A broad category such as “smart TV” does not mean every model is supported.
  • A computer browser cannot play Disney+: Compare the operating system and browser with the current requirements, then update the browser. The stated minimums differ between Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS.
  • A title will not download: Downloads require a supported mobile device and an eligible plan, and some titles are excluded. TV-connected devices, computers, and Windows 10 or 11 tablets are not supported for downloads under the current guidance.

Check the route before troubleshooting further

First identify which setup you are using: a TV app, a mobile app, a computer browser, AirPlay, Chromecast, or HDMI. Then check the requirements that apply to that specific route. For a TV app, confirm the device model and territory, and use the activation steps shown on the TV. For a browser, compare the computer’s operating system and browser with Disney+’s current list. For casting or HDMI, follow the relevant device instructions and verify hardware support; the TV app’s activation code does not replace those setup steps.

If the problem is specifically about offline viewing, check the device type, plan eligibility, and title availability separately. A title may not be downloadable even when the device and plan qualify. Also remember the 30-day internet connection condition and the requirement that the subscription remain active. The support material reviewed does not provide a universal fix for every playback or network problem, so the checks above focus on documented compatibility, activation, and download requirements.
