StreamShark’s OBS plugin is announced, but a current release and installation guide are not verified here. StreamShark’s April 16, 2026 announcement said, “The StreamShark OBS Plugin is coming soon for both macOS and Windows.” That is the status reported at announcement time, not confirmation of availability today. Check StreamShark’s current release and support channels before looking for a download or following plugin setup instructions; the announcement does not document installation, sign-in, supported OBS versions, or troubleshooting.
You can still configure OBS manually for a StreamShark event. The documented RTMP workflow uses the event’s Server URL and Stream Name; the SRT workflow uses a publishing URL and no stream key. These are fallbacks, not plugin installation steps.
What the announced plugin is intended to do
StreamShark describes the plugin as a native dock panel inside OBS Studio for managing a StreamShark live event. Its announced purpose is to reduce manual switching between the StreamShark portal and OBS.
- Switch StreamShark accounts and select a live event.
- Choose RTMP or SRT according to the event type, rather than manually copying a stream key and changing OBS output settings.
- Start and stop primary and backup streams separately, and monitor bitrate in real time.
- Switch between Pre, Main, and Post event phases.
- Activate configured live calls-to-action and polls.
These are capabilities described by StreamShark, not independently verified plugin behavior. The announcement does not establish which plans permit each plugin control. The pricing page lists backup stream ingest on Team and above, and Live CTA and Live Polling on Business and Enterprise; confirm current plan terms with StreamShark before relying on those features.

Before configuring OBS manually
Create the live event in StreamShark first. Its event configuration determines the ingest details and, for the standard RTMP workflow, the selected transcode resolution that your OBS video settings and bitrate should match. Use the RTMP steps only when your event provides a Server URL and Stream Name. For an SRT ingest event, follow the separate SRT steps below.

Configure a standard RTMP event in OBS
- Create the event: In the StreamShark portal, create a live stream event and note its Server URL and Stream Name.
- Enter the ingest details: In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose Custom Streaming Server, and enter the event’s Server URL as the server URL and its Stream Name as the stream key.
- Match output bitrates: In OBS, open Settings → Output and set video and audio bitrates to match the event’s selected transcode resolution. StreamShark’s guide gives these example pairs:
| Transcode resolution | Video bitrate | Audio bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 2160p (3840Ă—2160) | 15,000 Kbps | 128 Kbps |
| 1440p (2560Ă—1440) | 8,000 Kbps | 128 Kbps |
| 1080p (1920Ă—1080) | 5,000 Kbps | 128 Kbps |
| 720p (1280Ă—720) | 3,000 Kbps | 128 Kbps |
| 480p (854Ă—480) | 1,000 Kbps | 128 Kbps |
| 360p (640Ă—360) | 600 Kbps | 96 Kbps |
| 240p (426Ă—240) | 300 Kbps | 96 Kbps |
These are configuration values from StreamShark’s guide, not universal encoding recommendations; use the pair associated with your event’s selected transcode resolution.
- Match the canvas and output: Open Settings → Video. Set Base (Canvas) Resolution to the StreamShark transcode resolution, then set Output (Scaled) Resolution to the same value.
- Start and verify: Start streaming in OBS, then check the event workflow in StreamShark to confirm the event is receiving the broadcast.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Troubleshoot the documented manual workflows
- OBS cannot connect to the event: Confirm you copied the Server URL and Stream Name from the event you created, and entered them in the RTMP fields in the right roles. For SRT, use the publishing URL in Server and leave Stream Key empty.
- The SRT event is not ready: Wait until provisioning completes and the event displays Ready before copying its publishing URL.
- The stream is not pushing in the event workflow: Check that OBS is streaming and inspect the StreamShark event’s Workflow tab. For SRT, confirm the URL belongs to the intended primary or backup destination.
- Video settings do not match the event: For the standard RTMP setup, align both OBS resolution fields with the event’s selected transcode resolution and use the corresponding bitrate pair in StreamShark’s guide.
- You cannot find the plugin download or its controls: The announcement alone does not provide a download location or installation procedure. Check StreamShark’s current release and support channels rather than treating the manual OBS guide as plugin instructions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube live stream rather than operate a live event from OBS, StreamNeo is a different option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs from the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded video on YouTube, not camera-based live events.
