The ATEM Mini Pro can send a switched HDMI production to a streaming platform in either of two ways: stream directly from the switcher over Ethernet, or connect its USB-C webcam output to a computer and stream through software such as OBS. For documentaries, interviews, lectures, and multi-camera shoots, first connect and monitor your sources, then choose the path that matches your production workflow and test it before going live.
What you need before connecting
- An ATEM Mini Pro and its supplied power supply.
- One or more HDMI sources, such as cameras or computers, plus the HDMI cables to connect them.
- For direct streaming, a CAT 5 Ethernet cable and router connection, plus the platform’s current server and stream-key details.
- For computer streaming, a USB-C connection to a computer and streaming software such as OBS.
- Optionally, an HDMI display for multiview and external USB-C media if you want to record locally.
The ATEM Mini Pro has four standards-converted HDMI inputs. Confirm that each source’s output format is suitable for your production and check Blackmagic Design’s current instructions for your device and software version before a critical event.
Connect sources and check the picture
- Connect the supplied power supply to the ATEM Mini Pro.
- Connect each camera or other HDMI source to one of the switcher’s HDMI inputs.
- To monitor the production, connect a display to the ATEM’s HDMI output and press M/V to show multiview. Use it to check the incoming feeds, preview and program, and the switcher’s status indicators before you stream.
- Switch between sources and confirm that the intended shot appears in the program output. Resolve camera framing, focus, exposure, and audio at the source before the live event.
Choose how to stream

These are alternatives, not two connections you must use together. The official specifications list RTMP and SRT direct-streaming support; check current Blackmagic and platform guidance for the protocol and configuration you intend to use. The documented distinctions do not establish that either path is universally more reliable or produces better quality.
Stream directly over Ethernet
- Connect the ATEM Mini Pro’s Ethernet port to your internet router with a CAT 5 network cable.
- Open ATEM Software Control and go to the streaming or output settings. Select the platform, choose a server, and enter the stream key issued by that platform. Labels and available choices may vary with software and platform updates, so follow the current manual and on-screen prompts.
- Before using the live program, run a test with color bars or a standby graphic. Confirm that the stream reaches the intended platform and that picture and audio are present.
- When the test is satisfactory and you are ready, start the broadcast using the ATEM’s on-air control. Check the platform’s own live status as well as the switcher’s indicators.
Keep the stream key private: it authorizes a broadcast to your channel or event. If it is exposed, use the platform’s current controls to replace or reset it, then update the ATEM configuration.

Stream through OBS or other computer software
- Connect the ATEM Mini Pro’s USB-C port to the computer.
- Open OBS or your chosen streaming application and select the ATEM Mini Pro as the video capture or webcam source.
- Set up the platform destination in that software using the platform’s current instructions and credentials. Add any computer-managed scenes or overlays you need, and verify the ATEM feed and audio in the software preview.
- Make a private or otherwise controlled test where the platform permits, and verify the result on the platform before the production starts.
In this workflow the computer and streaming application are part of the stream path. Use the direct Ethernet method instead if you do not need that software workflow.
Record a local copy
The ATEM Mini Pro can record H.264 MP4 video with AAC audio to external media connected over USB-C. Blackmagic’s technical specifications list exFAT and HFS+ media formats. The getting-started guide describes connecting a USB drive and pressing REC. Check current Blackmagic documentation for drive compatibility and available space before relying on a recording; test the specific media first.

Test before the real broadcast
- Confirm every HDMI source appears correctly in multiview and the intended source is on program.
- Check audio as well as video in the receiving platform; a visible picture alone does not prove that sound is reaching viewers.
- Verify that the platform accepts the selected destination, server, and stream key, and that its live page shows the expected feed.
- For a computer workflow, confirm the ATEM is selected as the webcam source and that scenes and overlays behave as intended.
- For local recording, make a short test recording and confirm that it can be played back.
- Use content you have permission to stream. Platform copyright enforcement can interrupt a broadcast; review the platform’s current copyright rules and ensure you have rights to all footage, music, and other material in the program.
Troubleshooting common problems
The platform does not receive a direct stream
Check that the Ethernet cable connects the ATEM Mini Pro to the router, then recheck the selected platform, server, and stream key in ATEM Software Control. Test the network and credentials independently where possible, and confirm the platform’s current live-streaming requirements.
The ATEM does not appear in streaming software
Check the USB-C connection, then reopen the software’s source selection and choose the ATEM Mini Pro as the webcam or video-capture source. Confirm that the computer sees the device and that another application is not occupying it.

A camera feed is missing or looks wrong
Check the camera’s HDMI output, cable, and switcher input selection. Compare the source output format with current Blackmagic guidance and use multiview to determine whether the issue is present at the input or only in the program output.
There is no audio on the stream
Check the source’s audio connection and the relevant audio settings, then inspect the receiving platform during a test. Verify the audio path in the computer software if streaming through OBS rather than assuming that a working picture means audio is also routed.

The local recording does not start
Confirm that external media is connected and formatted compatibly, and check available capacity. Consult current Blackmagic documentation for the drive and format before the event; make a test recording rather than discovering a media issue during production.
The stream stops or is blocked
Check the switcher or computer connection and the platform’s live status. If the platform reports a rights or policy issue, address the material or account issue under that platform’s current rules before restarting.
