To use Streamlabs Stream Boss, configure and save the widget in the Streamlabs dashboard, activate its health settings, then add it to Streamlabs Desktop or another streaming app. You can choose how boss health carries between battles, what viewer interactions do, and how the widget looks.
Set up Stream Boss in the Streamlabs dashboard
- Sign in to the Streamlabs dashboard, open All Widgets, and select Stream Boss.
- Choose a theme. To preview the widget, select Launch beside its widget URL. Save any changes before previewing so the preview reflects your latest settings.
- Open Manage Battle. Set the starting health and choose a battle mode:
- Fixed: The boss starts with the same health each time.
- Incremental: The boss gains a configured amount of health after each defeat.
- Overkill: Excess damage from the finishing blow is multiplied and becomes the next boss’s health.
- Open Settings and configure how follows, bits, subscriptions, and tips affect health.
- Adjust the appearance, including the kill animation, fade time, font, background color, and health-bar colors. Select Save Settings.
- Return to Manage Battle and select Save Stream Boss Health. Saving the appearance and interaction settings alone is not the final activation step.
Streamlabs suggests considering zero fade time so the health bar stays visible, and lower starting health to encourage more frequent boss changes. These are vendor suggestions, not independently tested or universally ideal settings; choose what suits your stream.
Add Stream Boss to Streamlabs Desktop
- In Streamlabs Desktop, open Sources and select +.
- Choose Widgets > Stream Boss and add the source.
- Adjust the goal, battle management, visual settings, and advanced source options as needed, then select Done.
- Drag the widget on the canvas and resize it to fit your scene.
Add Stream Boss to OBS Studio, XSplit, or other streaming software
- Copy the Widget URL from Stream Boss settings in the Streamlabs dashboard.
- In your streaming software, add a Browser Source and paste the URL.
- Set the source width and height to fit the scene, then position and resize it as needed.
This browser-source route is the documented option for OBS Studio, XSplit, and other broadcasting software; Streamlabs Desktop also offers the direct Stream Boss widget source.
Choose settings that fit your battle
- Use Fixed if you want each new boss to begin at the same health.
- Use Incremental if you want the next boss’s health to rise by a configured amount after each defeat.
- Use Overkill if you want finishing-blow damage beyond the boss’s remaining health to affect the next boss.
- Set starting health and interaction effects based on how you want follows, bits, subscriptions, and tips to contribute. Streamlabs’ guide does not establish an ideal configuration.
- Check readability in your scene after adjusting the font, colors, fade time, and kill animation.
Troubleshooting Stream Boss setup
- The widget does not appear in the scene: Confirm that the Stream Boss source was added and that its URL or source is correct. For a browser source, check its dimensions and that it is visible in the scene.
- Your changes do not show in the preview: Save the changes before selecting Launch beside the widget URL.
- The battle is not active: After selecting Save Settings, return to Manage Battle and select Save Stream Boss Health.
- Viewer actions do not change health as expected: Review the interaction settings for follows, bits, subscriptions, and tips. The available guide does not establish current eligibility rules for each platform or account.
Streamlabs’ guide, originally published September 4, 2017 and marked last updated December 19, 2025, documents these setup paths and options. It does not report independent performance tests or establish platform-by-platform interaction eligibility or account requirements. See the Streamlabs Stream Boss guide for its instructions.

Or let it run in the cloud
Stream Boss is a widget for a live broadcast. If your separate goal is keeping a prerecorded YouTube channel live around the clock, StreamNeo is a different tool: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; it streams what you upload at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the Monthly price is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera.
