To use Restream with Streamlabs Desktop, create an RTMP stream in Restream, choose the channels that should receive it, and enter Restream’s stream key—and, if needed, its RTMP URL—in Streamlabs Desktop. Start the broadcast in Streamlabs; Restream then distributes that encoder feed to your selected destinations.
Connect Streamlabs Desktop to Restream
- Create the Restream stream. In Restream, choose New Stream → Encoder | RTMP. If you already have an RTMP stream, open it instead.
- Select destinations. Turn on the channels you want to receive the broadcast. Set titles, descriptions, and thumbnails as needed; Restream’s encoder setup also supports per-channel titles and descriptions.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the RTMP URL and stream key shown in Restream. Treat the key as a password: anyone with it may be able to connect to your stream.
- Open Streamlabs’ stream settings. In Streamlabs Desktop, open the gear/settings menu and choose Stream. Depending on the available menu labels, select the Restream service under the streaming-service options, or choose custom ingest and enter the details manually.
- Enter the key and save. Paste the Restream stream key into the relevant field. If Streamlabs asks for a server or URL, paste the RTMP URL as well. Save with Done.
- Go live and check the feed. Start the broadcast in Streamlabs Desktop. In Restream, open View Stream to monitor the incoming feed, destinations, and viewer counts.
Streamlabs’ maintained support article describes a custom-ingest and service-selection flow, while Restream’s connection guide names Streaming Services → Restream.io. Labels can vary by app version. Restream’s general encoder workflow uses RTMP, so entering its URL and key in custom RTMP fields is the fallback if a named Restream option is missing.
Recommended Streamlabs encoder settings

| Output mode | Advanced |
| Encoder | Software (x264) |
| Rate control | CBR |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds |
| Profile | Main |
These are Restream’s recommendations in that dated guide, not universal settings for every platform, resolution, or encoder. Follow the receiving platforms’ current requirements for any remaining settings.

Understand where the stream is controlled
Streamlabs Desktop sends one encoder feed to Restream. You select the destinations in Restream, which then relays the feed to those channels. This is different from choosing destinations inside Streamlabs’ own multistream feature.
Restream’s software guide, dated July 31, 2026, describes RTMP as its general workflow for encoder software and lists Streamlabs among compatible programs. Its help article says Restream works with most major streaming software, including OBS, Streamlabs, vMix, ATEM, SlingStudio, and more.
Rank #2

Check the plan against your destinations
Restream’s February 9, 2026 help article says its free plan includes multistreaming to two channels and use with third-party software such as OBS, with Restream branding. It says a paid plan is required for three or more channels, Facebook Pages, Groups, and custom RTMP destinations. These are the limits stated in that dated article; check Restream’s current account terms before setting up a broadcast because plan features can change.
Streamlabs also offers a separate multistream product. Its product page describes cloud forwarding and a free Dual Output option for one horizontal and one vertical destination, while broader Streamlabs Multistream is identified as an Ultra feature. That is a distinct workflow with its own plan limits: a Streamlabs plan does not automatically change Restream’s limits, and Restream’s plan does not unlock Streamlabs features.

Choose the relay workflow that fits
- Use Restream with Streamlabs Desktop when you want to choose destinations and monitor the incoming feed in Restream’s dashboard. Check that your intended channel count and destination types are allowed on your Restream plan.
- Consider Streamlabs’ built-in multistream workflow if you prefer to configure destinations through Streamlabs. Its available options depend on Streamlabs’ own product and plan limits.
The cited product information establishes these feature distinctions, not a complete current price comparison or a universal best choice.
Troubleshooting the connection
- Restream is not listed in Streamlabs. Select custom ingest or a custom RTMP destination, then enter the RTMP URL and key copied from Restream. Menu names differ across app versions.
- Restream does not receive a feed. Check that Streamlabs is using the current Restream key and, where requested, the matching RTMP URL. Confirm you started the broadcast in Streamlabs.
- The feed arrives, but a channel is not receiving it. In Restream, check that the destination is switched on for this stream and review the destination’s status in the dashboard.
- A destination is unavailable under your plan. Review Restream’s current terms for channel count and destination type. The February 2026 help article, for example, listed Facebook Pages, Groups, and custom RTMP destinations as requiring a paid plan.
- You changed or exposed the stream key. Update the key in Streamlabs to match the one currently shown in Restream. Keep the key private and do not publish it in a screenshot or broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a prerecorded YouTube channel that stays live around the clock, StreamNeo is a different option: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud rather than relaying a live Streamlabs production. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; streams run at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, for one flat price per slot. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly plan is $9.99 per month.
