To use Discord Reactive Images as a PNGTuber, prepare matching idle and speaking avatar images, authorize the Reactive Images service with Discord, join the voice channel you’ll use, then add its individual Browser Source link to OBS or Streamlabs Desktop. The avatar changes when your microphone registers speech. It is a third-party workflow, not a built-in Discord avatar feature.
What you need
- A Discord account and access to the voice channel where you plan to talk.
- Two PNG images of the same character: one idle and one speaking. Transparent backgrounds are useful for placing the avatar over a scene.
- OBS or Streamlabs Desktop, with a scene where you can add a Browser Source.
- A working microphone selected in Discord.
You can draw the images yourself or commission an artist; Streamlabs’ guide mentions Etsy, Fiverr, Twitter, and Upwork as places people may look for commissions, but availability and individual sellers vary. You do not need to buy a webcam or other hardware for this image-based setup.

Prepare a matched image pair
Make the idle and speaking images the same canvas size, with the character cropped and positioned consistently. This reduces the visible jump when the service switches between them. PNG files are used in the Streamlabs walkthrough; a transparent background helps the character sit cleanly over your scene.

Open the service and review Discord authorization
Go to FugiTech and open its Discord Reactive Images service. Sign in with Discord and read the permission request Discord presents before approving it. The service’s current permission details are not established here, so make your decision from the authorization screen rather than assuming what access it requests.

Upload the images and copy your individual source link
Upload or configure the idle and speaking images, then copy the “Individual Browser Source” link described in Streamlabs’ setup guide. Treat this URL as private: do not show it in a public screenshot or stream scene export. The current app’s link-reset and revocation controls have not been verified.

Join the intended Discord voice channel
Connect to the voice channel you will use while streaming. The setup guide notes that the avatar may not appear if you have not joined a Discord voice channel. Confirm you are using the Discord account associated with the service.

Add the link as a Browser Source
In OBS or Streamlabs Desktop, open the scene where the avatar should appear and add a Browser Source. Paste the complete individual source URL, then size and position the source on the canvas. Labels and scene layouts can vary by software version; test in your actual scene before going live.

Test both avatar states
With the intended Discord microphone selected and unmuted, speak and confirm the speaking image appears. Stop speaking and check that the idle image returns. Test the transition while previewing the scene so you can adjust placement before broadcasting.

Fix common problems
- The source is blank: Check that you pasted the entire URL, are signed into the intended Discord account, and have joined the voice channel. Refresh the Browser Source after checking those details.
- The avatar stays idle: Check Discord’s selected input device, mute state, and voice-activity behavior. Confirm you are speaking in the voice channel tied to the setup.
- The character shifts when it speaks: Edit the images so they have matching canvas dimensions, crop, and character placement.
- The source looks wrong in the live scene: Adjust the Browser Source size and position in the scene itself, then test again. Interface labels and canvas behavior can differ across software versions.
When a local PNGTuber app may fit better
If you want more control over avatar states or want voice activation without relying on a browser-based Discord image source, veadotube Mini is a local alternative. Its official guide describes a two-image mouth-state setup, optional blinking states, and configurations using one still image with motion effects. It supports GIF, animated PNG, and WebP, and can listen to a selected microphone or a Discord or TeamSpeak user.
For veadotube Mini, the documentation recommends resizing images to around 1024Ă—1024 while preserving aspect ratio, with 2048Ă—2048 as its stated maximum recommendation; large or animated images can use more memory. Its audio controls include input selection, noise-filtering configuration, activation-threshold adjustment, and the time before returning to the closed-mouth state. These are veadotube Mini features, not features of FugiTech Reactive Images.

To bring veadotube into OBS, capture the app using a method suited to your operating system. The official OBS guide recommends Spout2 for transparency and hidden UI on Windows, PipeWire Video on Linux, and Syphon Client on macOS. It also lists window capture with platform-specific caveats. Sending an OBS scene to a Discord video call through a virtual camera is a separate workflow from adding Reactive Images as a Browser Source.
