To play a fixed sequence of aarti videos one after another, put their filenames in an FFmpeg concat-demuxer playlist and run FFmpeg with that text file as input. This makes a finite sequence; it does not by itself repeat the list indefinitely or update a running playlist.
Make an ordered playlist file
Create a plain-text file named playlist.txt in the directory where you will run FFmpeg. Add one file directive per video, in the order you want the clips to play:
file 'aarti-morning.mp4'
file 'aarti-evening.mp4'
file 'aarti-special.mp4'Each entry names an input file. Relative filenames are resolved from the process’s working directory, so either run FFmpeg from the directory containing the videos or use paths that resolve correctly from where you run the command.
The optional first line ffconcat version 1.0 lets FFmpeg recognize the script format automatically. It must be exactly on the first line, without extra whitespace or a byte-order mark. It is not needed when you explicitly select the concat demuxer with -f concat.

Paths with spaces or special characters
Quote or escape paths containing spaces and special characters according to FFmpeg’s concat-script syntax. The demuxer’s default safe setting is 1; it accepts relative paths made from portable characters such as letters, digits, periods, underscores and hyphens, but rejects unsafe paths and directives.
If the playlist requires absolute paths or names outside those rules, you can add -safe 0 before the input option. This accepts any filename, so use it only with a playlist you trust.

Concatenate compatible videos without re-encoding
For clips with matching stream layouts, codecs and time bases, run:
ffmpeg -f concat -i playlist.txt -c copy output.mp4-f concatselects FFmpeg’s concat demuxer.-i playlist.txtsupplies the ordered playlist.-c copycopies the streams rather than re-encoding them.output.mp4is the resulting finite video file; use a container that supports the input streams.
FFmpeg processes the entries sequentially as one virtual input. Its command-line options generally apply to the next input or output, so place input options before their corresponding -i and output options after the inputs. Check the local manual if your installed FFmpeg version handles an option differently; the online manual is regenerated nightly.

What “rotate” means—and what this method does not do
The concat demuxer combines the listed clips into one finite sequence. It does not establish an infinite repeat or a way to change the playlist while FFmpeg is already running. If by “rotate” you mean repeat the same aarti list continuously, that is a different requirement from creating one concatenated output; do not assume this command provides it.
Check compatibility and timing
Stream layouts must match
The concat demuxer expects the files to have the same streams, including codecs and time bases. It joins packets; it does not convert mismatched clips into a common format. If the aarti videos differ in stream layout or need re-encoding to join correctly, use FFmpeg’s concat filter instead. Durations affect timestamps
FFmpeg uses each file’s duration to place the next file’s timestamps. Incorrect duration metadata can cause artifacts at joins or timing problems. A duration directive in the playlist can override a file’s stored duration; supplying durations for every file also makes seeking across the concatenated output possible. Confirm actual clip durations before adding overrides.
Troubleshoot common failures
- Playlist or input file not found: Check the spelling and working directory, then verify every listed path resolves from the directory where FFmpeg runs.
- Playlist parsing or unsafe-path error: Check quoting and escaping. If absolute or unusual paths are required, use
-safe 0before-ionly for a trusted playlist. - Clips fail to join or streams are incompatible: Compare the streams, codecs and time bases. Use the concat filter if the inputs need re-encoding rather than expecting the demuxer to repair mismatches.
- Artifacts or timestamp issues around a join: Inspect the source files’ duration metadata. Where it is inaccurate, consider a correct
durationdirective for that entry.
To check your FFmpeg build and consult its matching local documentation, run ffmpeg -version and use the documentation installed with that version. The online manual may describe a newer build.
