To see how many people are watching your live stream right now, open the platform’s live dashboard and check its concurrent-viewer metric. On YouTube, use Live Control Room; on Twitch, start with Creator Dashboard and its Stream Manager or Analytics tools. Use the live dashboard for the in-progress count and the separate post-stream report for processed statistics.
What “concurrent viewers” means
Concurrent viewers are people watching at the same time—not the total number of times a stream was started. YouTube defines the metric as “The number of simultaneous viewers.” Keep it distinct from playbacks, peak concurrent viewers, and average concurrent viewers: playbacks count viewing starts, peak is the highest concurrent count during a stream, and average concurrent viewers summarizes the audience across a period.
See YouTube viewers while you are live
- Open YouTube Live Control Room for the broadcast.
- Look in its real-time analytics for Concurrent viewers. YouTube lists this alongside metrics including duration, chat messages, and likes for mobile live streams. The concurrent count is the simultaneous audience at that point in the broadcast.
The exact set of displayed metrics can depend on the live experience and interface. For YouTube’s metric definitions, see YouTube Help: Measure key moments for live streams.
Find YouTube figures after the stream
- In YouTube Studio, open Content, then Live.
- Select the completed stream, open Analytics, and choose Engagement.
- Review the concurrent-viewers report, including peak and average figures where available. YouTube says the video-level report becomes available within minutes after the stream ends.
Do not expect this report to reproduce the live dashboard count exactly. YouTube explains that Analytics data is processed and despammed and measures different information from Live Control Room data. The live metric is useful for monitoring the current broadcast; the later report is a processed view of performance. See YouTube Help: Understand your YouTube video analytics.

Track viewers on Twitch
Open the Twitch Creator Dashboard, Twitch’s home for streaming tools. Its native starting points include Stream Manager for stream operations and Analytics for viewer statistics over a selected date range. Twitch also provides a per-stream Stream Summary after a broadcast. Menus and dashboard layout can change, so use those tool names rather than relying on a fixed click sequence.
- For a live check, look in Creator Dashboard and Stream Manager.
- For a date-range view, open Analytics.
- For an individual completed broadcast, use its Stream Summary.
See Twitch’s Creator Dashboard guide and Channel Analytics guide for current details.

Can you show a viewer count inside OBS?
OBS does not make platform viewer counts interchangeable; the metric still comes from the streaming platform or a service that accesses its data. For Twitch, StreamScouter advertises real-time viewer analytics and an OBS browser-source viewer panel. These are the vendor’s stated features, not independently verified accuracy or an official Twitch tool. Its page also describes a free tier and a Pro plan listed at $6.99/month when accessed in 2026; check the vendor page for current features and pricing.
Before connecting a third-party service, review what account permissions it requests and what viewer or chat information it says it collects or stores. StreamScouter says it uses Twitch API information and that data starts accumulating after sign-in; those statements are the vendor’s, so assess its privacy and access terms directly. Why counts and reports can differ
- Live versus processed reporting: YouTube’s in-progress Live Control Room metric and post-stream Analytics are different views, and YouTube says Analytics is processed and despammed.
- Different metric names: concurrent, peak concurrent, average concurrent, playbacks, and chat activity describe different things. Check the label before comparing figures.
- Different platforms: A YouTube count is not a Twitch count, and there is no established universal cross-platform total here. Treat a tool-generated sum as an aggregate with platform-specific timing and definitions, not as a canonical audience number.
Or let it run in the cloud
