Important status note: Resso stopped operating in Brazil and Indonesia on September 5, 2023, and ByteDance announced its India shutdown for January 31, 2024. There is no verified current Resso-to-CapCut integration. The workable method is to use a legally usable audio file or an equivalent track licensed within CapCut, then retime the template manually where necessary.
Can you still use Resso music in CapCut?
Not through a verified direct connection. TikTok announced that Resso would cease operating in Brazil and Indonesia on September 5, 2023, alongside the launch of TikTok Music in those markets (TikTok newsroom announcement). ByteDance later announced an India shutdown for January 31, 2024 (Moneycontrol report). Those dates do not establish availability in every other country, but they mean an up-to-date tutorial should not assume that a working Resso app or subscription is available.
A song saved for offline playback in a streaming app is normally an app-controlled copy, not an ordinary MP3 that another editor can import. Listening access also does not grant synchronization or distribution rights. Do not bypass DRM, screen-record protected streams for redistribution, or install unofficial “Resso Mod APK” files; those routes create security, account, and copyright risks.
What can be imported into CapCut?

CapCut says music can disappear because of licensing restrictions, regional rights, removal by rights holders, or account synchronization problems (CapCut support). A track visible in a personal streaming library is not automatically cleared for an exported video.

Choose the right CapCut platform
Mobile app: the recommended route
CapCut’s mobile app generally offers the fullest template discovery and customization. Open Template, select a design, tap Use template, choose the requested photos or clips, and preview the generated project. Then open the project for audio and timing edits. CapCut notes that the Template tab can be absent in some regions or app versions (CapCut template guidance).
Web and Desktop
Web and Desktop can add audio through the editor, but community and TikTok-linked templates may be unavailable or limited. Desktop may show only a smaller set of official or preloaded templates. If the same design is missing there, switch to mobile rather than repeatedly reinstalling the desktop application. Template availability changes with geography, account, platform, and app version.

Step-by-step: replace the template soundtrack
- Open CapCut mobile and choose Template > Use template.
- Select the required media slots and open the resulting project.
- Tap the soundtrack on the timeline. Depending on the version and template, the control may be labeled Replace, Change sound, Audio, or Sounds.
- Choose a permitted CapCut-library track or import a local audio file you are authorized to use. CapCut’s published workflow supports uploading media, adding audio, adjusting volume, speed, and fades (CapCut audio workflow).
- Mute or delete the original soundtrack if it remains underneath the replacement.
- Preview the entire edit, paying special attention to the opening cut, chorus, drop, and any flash or zoom effects.
- Export only after checking the destination platform’s music rules and the rights covering your recording.
Some templates lock or embed their audio. If no replacement control appears, you may be viewing a preview, using a restricted template, or working on Web or Desktop. Open it in mobile; if it is still locked, create a normal project and rebuild the important cuts manually.
How to make the new song match the visuals
Replacing audio does not preserve perfect synchronization. Two recordings can have different tempos, intro lengths, pickup beats, chorus positions, edits, or numbers of measures. Use this manual method:

- Watch the template and note every major cut, text reveal, flash, zoom, and transition.
- Find the first strong downbeat in the permitted replacement track. Trim leading silence or an unwanted intro.
- Place that downbeat under the template’s opening visual impact. A template may begin on a pickup beat rather than beat one, so trust the waveform and the picture.
- Use the waveform to locate later strong beats. Adjust clip duration around major beats instead of forcing every minor transition to land exactly.
- Make small speed changes only when needed. Extreme speed changes can look unnatural and introduce audio artifacts.
- Preview at full speed several times. Check whether the chorus or drop coincides with the strongest transition, and distinguish genuine timing errors from preview lag.
CapCut describes Auto Cut as an AI-assisted feature that can trim and synchronize clips to music beats, speech pauses, or prompts (CapCut Help Center). It is most useful when footage can be rearranged freely, not when a prebuilt template has fixed slots and effects tied to its original song.

Possessing an audio file is not the same as owning the right to synchronize it with images or publish the result. CapCut’s materials agreement says users should include music only when they have the necessary rights or permissions, and that availability is not guaranteed across platforms (CapCut Materials License Agreement).

Troubleshoot common failures
The Template tab or a particular template is missing
Visibility depends on region, app version, account, and platform. Try the current CapCut mobile app first and confirm that you are signed into the intended account (CapCut template support).
There is no Replace Audio option
The template may lock its soundtrack, you may be viewing a preview, or the control may be unavailable in your region or version. Open the design on mobile. If it remains locked, start a normal project, import the available video or placeholders, add permitted audio, and recreate the key cuts.

The replacement song is out of sync
- Check for silence before the first audible beat.
- Confirm whether the template begins on a pickup beat.
- Verify that you selected the same recording, rather than a radio edit, clean version, remix, or live version.
- Mute the original audio layer so two tracks are not creating an apparent echo or delay.
- Check the finished export, not only a lagging preview.
The audio disappears after export or upload
Rights-holder claims, regional licenses, platform rules, account access, or a later-delisted template sound can remove audio. CapCut lists licensing and platform limitations among the causes (CapCut support). Re-export with an authorized alternative or add a platform-native sound during upload where that platform permits it.
The published template is muted
CapCut advises replacing music that is no longer covered by the applicable copyright agreement with a track you have permission to use or with music from its licensed library (CapCut’s muted-template guidance).
Rights checklist for publishing
- Confirm permission for the specific recording, not merely access through a streaming subscription.
- Confirm synchronization and public-distribution rights for video.
- Check the destination platform, territory, account type, and whether the post is monetized, branded, advertised, or client work.
- Read the individual track terms; “royalty-free” does not mean unrestricted or cleared for every platform.
- Keep the license, receipt, or written permission with the project.
- For business or client work, obtain direct rights-holder permission or use a catalog whose plan explicitly covers that use.
Alternatives to Resso
For YouTube-oriented projects, review the YouTube Audio Library and each track’s attribution and usage conditions. Subscription catalogs such as Epidemic Sound, Artlist, and Soundstripe can suit recurring creator, agency, brand, or client production, but plan eligibility, commercial permissions, platform coverage, and post-cancellation treatment differ. Check their current terms directly. CapCut’s own library or original music is usually the least complicated choice for a casual personal video.
