To loop a prerecorded page-turning ASMR clip on YouTube Live, make the clip repeat in OBS, connect OBS to YouTube with the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room, then check the clip’s ending against its beginning before going live. OBS can repeat a local file or playlist, but its documentation does not promise a gap-free boundary for every YouTube viewer. The loop setting prevents playback from simply stopping; it cannot repair a pause or abrupt sound already present in the recording.
Prepare the page-turning recording
Review the clip as a loop before configuring the broadcast. Listen and watch through the last page turn and into the opening moment: a long fade, silence, abrupt cut, or change in room tone can make the restart noticeable even when the file repeats correctly. Adjust the recording or edit the seam if needed, then save the finished file locally.
A microphone is relevant when recording close paper sounds, but it is not required to stream a clip that has already been recorded. This guide does not recommend a particular microphone.
Choose the right OBS source
One video file: Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene that should carry the ASMR video.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add Media Source. Create a new source or choose an existing one.
- In the source properties, select the local video file and enable Loop.
- Optionally enable Restart playback when source becomes active if you want playback to start from the beginning when the source becomes active. This is separate from Loop, which repeats playback at the end of the file. Consider how scene visibility or switching away and back affects playback.
- Confirm the video and audio appear as intended in the OBS preview.
OBS documents these controls for Media Source in its Media Sources guide, published January 11, 2022.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Several files: VLC Video
- Install VLC before adding the source. If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC; OBS notes that VLC Video may not appear when the required VLC installation is missing.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add VLC Video.
- Add the page-turning clips in the intended order, then enable Loop Playlist.
- Check the preview and listen as playback moves from the final clip back to the first.
OBS describes Loop Playlist as controlling whether the source restarts after it has run out of media files. It does not establish that the change between files—or the return to the start—will be seamless to every viewer.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Check that your channel can stream live. YouTube’s help page says the channel must be verified, must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Requirements can change; check the current status and eligibility in YouTube Studio. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup help (accessed October 3, 2026).
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the stream and locate its stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s stream-settings help describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private: anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your channel.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose the YouTube service and enter or connect the stream key as prompted. If configuring a custom connection, use the stream URL and key shown in Live Control Room. Labels and connection options can vary with OBS versions and YouTube’s interface.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check the Live Control Room preview and verify the picture and sound before making the broadcast public.
- For a scheduled stream, YouTube’s encoder guide says to wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room, then click Go live. Follow the current controls shown for your stream.
YouTube’s encoder instructions are at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. The standard stream URL/key workflow is sufficient for an OBS media loop; YouTube’s separate HLS instructions are not needed just to repeat a local video.

What “without a restart gap” can—and cannot—mean
There are two different boundaries to consider: the local file’s end-to-start edit, and delivery of the live broadcast to viewers. OBS’s loop control addresses local playback. The official OBS and YouTube pages cited here explain source looping and encoder connection, but do not promise frame-accurate or audio-seamless playback at the loop boundary for every viewer. Treat the preview and a preflight listen as practical checks, not proof of a universal no-gap guarantee.
YouTube’s DVR feature lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume during a live stream. That viewer control does not make the source loop itself seamless; see Manage live stream settings.

Archive and delivery choices
Automatic archive duration
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its encoder guide does not establish the same automatic archive behavior for streams lasting 12 hours or longer, so do not rely on that page as a guarantee for longer broadcasts. See YouTube’s encoder guide (accessed October 3, 2026).
RTMP or HLS
For a typical OBS setup, use the stream URL and key workflow. YouTube documents HLS for HDR or codecs that RTMP does not support; HLS sends segments and has higher latency. Its setup requirements include 1–4 second segments, TS format, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT. Those requirements do not need to be configured merely to loop a local OBS source. See YouTube’s HLS setup instructions.

Troubleshooting
- The video stops at the end. For one file, confirm Loop is enabled on the Media Source. For multiple files, confirm Loop Playlist is enabled on VLC Video.
- VLC Video is missing from the Sources menu. Install VLC, matching OBS’s architecture; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC for this source.
- The source starts over after a scene change. Check whether Restart playback when source becomes active is enabled and whether your scene or source visibility changes activate it. That control is not the same as end-of-file looping.
- The restart is audible or visible. Review the recording’s final and opening moments. A pause, cut, or room-tone change in the source can remain apparent even though OBS repeats the file.
- YouTube receives no signal or the preview does not appear. Recheck that OBS uses the stream URL and key for the selected stream, and that the key has not been mistyped or replaced. Keep the key private.
- The scheduled stream is not public yet. Check Live Control Room for the encoder preview; YouTube’s scheduled-stream instructions say to click Go live after the preview appears.
