To stream a cave ambience video with dripping-water audio around the clock, send a looped video from an encoder to YouTube Live using the stream URL and key in YouTube Studio. The critical limitation: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured in its archive, and DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable. For a persistent recording, make and verify your own local archive rather than relying on YouTube to save a complete 24-hour broadcast.
Before you start: channel, files and rights
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Activating live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s computer live-streaming tips.
- Prepare a video that can loop. Have the finished cave scene and dripping-water audio ready in a format your chosen encoder can use. Keep the source files separately in case you need to rebuild the loop or restore a local recording.
- Confirm your rights. You must have the necessary rights to stream both the visuals and audio, including music or sound recordings where applicable. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions make rights clearance the creator’s responsibility. Owning a video file does not by itself establish permission to broadcast its contents.
- Choose where the encoder will run. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders. A local encoder depends on the computer and its internet connection remaining available; the computer requirements for this particular looping use case are not specified in YouTube’s guidance.
Set up the YouTube Live connection
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a live stream or schedule one, then select the encoder workflow. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes entering the stream URL and stream key supplied by Live Control Room into the encoder.
- Copy the server URL and stream key into the matching encoder fields. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting again.
- Configure the encoder to send the cave video and dripping-water audio as a continuous loop. Confirm its output uses the stream destination and key for this specific YouTube broadcast.
- Start the encoder output, then wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room. Preview it before going live; check the picture, water audio, and whether the video loops cleanly. YouTube recommends testing the setup before launch in its streaming tips.
- When the preview is correct, start the broadcast from the Live Control Room if required by your workflow. Open the public watch page in a separate browser or device to confirm viewers can see and hear it.
Check upload bandwidth and monitor the stream
Your internet connection must sustain the encoder’s total outgoing bitrate. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom; its streaming tips also warn that other people or devices sharing the connection can reduce the bandwidth available to the encoder. Compare the encoder’s total bitrate—not just the video bitrate—with the upload capacity that is actually available while the network is in use.
- Test at the quality and bitrate you intend to use; a test at a lower setting does not demonstrate that the connection can sustain a higher one.
- Watch Live Control Room for incoming-stream status and quality warnings. Check the actual watch page and listen for muted, distorted, or unexpectedly interrupted audio.
- If you are recording locally, verify that the recording file is being created and growing. A recording indicator alone is not a substitute for checking the resulting file.
YouTube’s guidance recommends bandwidth headroom but does not establish a guaranteed bitrate, computer specification, or uninterrupted runtime for this specific cave-loop setup. Set those according to your chosen encoder and the upload capacity you can sustain, then test before making the stream public.
Plan for YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit
A continuous 24/7 broadcast is not the same as a guaranteed full-length YouTube recording. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” See Archive live streams. Do not assume YouTube will preserve a complete 24-hour video or that a later archive can be recovered.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If keeping a complete recording matters, enable a local recording in your encoder and plan how you will store, check, and restart it. Confirm in advance that the destination has enough free space for the recording at your chosen settings; file size depends on the bitrate and duration. Verify the saved file can be opened, and separately test the process for starting a new recording if the encoder or computer restarts. YouTube recommends a local archive backup, but does not specify the storage capacity or restart procedure for your setup.
What viewers can rewind
YouTube DVR lets viewers pause and rewind some live streams, but it may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including streams longer than 12 hours. Viewers also cannot seek back to a point before the broadcast began. YouTube explains these limits in Turn on DVR on live streams. Avoid promising viewers that they can rewind an entire day.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Live streaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for restrictions. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available, as described in YouTube’s eligibility guidance.
- YouTube receives no video: check that the encoder is running, the correct stream URL and key are entered, and the broadcast is the one currently open in Live Control Room. Return to the preview before going live.
- Stream quality drops or the feed disconnects: compare the encoder’s total bitrate with current upload capacity, restore YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom, and account for other devices using the connection. Check the streaming tips while testing.
- The cave is visible but the water is silent: inspect the encoder’s audio input and output selection, then listen to the Live Control Room preview and public watch page before relying on the stream.
- The video or audio repeats awkwardly: review the loop point in the source and test multiple repetitions in the encoder preview before launch.
- The YouTube archive is missing or incomplete: a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Use the separate local recording you planned rather than expecting YouTube to reconstruct it.
- Viewers cannot rewind far enough: DVR behavior on very long streams is limited or unavailable; it is not a complete substitute for an archive.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is to keep an uploaded cave video playing on YouTube without leaving a home computer and connection running, StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud. Upload the video, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream as made up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. This is a YouTube streaming option for uploaded video, not a camera broadcast. Start your free first day with StreamNeo.
