1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stream Malayalam devotional videos at 4K and 60 fps on YouTube Live with OBS, send a stable 3840Ă—2160, 60-fps feed using a supported encoder, the bitrate appropriate to that codec, and enough sustained upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for AV1/HEVC at 4K60. The settings are not Malayalam-specific: choose them based on your source, computer, encoder and connection, then test the complete program before going live.
Choose a codec and plan for the upload rate
YouTube’s live encoder guidance supports frame rates up to 60 fps. For a 4K (2160p) 60-fps input, YouTube recommends the following video bitrates. These are encoder input recommendations; YouTube transcodes live video into formats for viewers.
| Encoder codec | YouTube-recommended 4K60 video bitrate | Listed minimum |
|---|---|---|
| H.264 | 50 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| AV1 or H.265/HEVC | 35 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
Use the recommendation for the codec you can actually encode and send. AV1 or HEVC uses a lower recommended bitrate than H.264, but encoder support varies by device and hardware generation; confirm your OBS encoder is available and appropriate before selecting a profile. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (never more than four seconds), and RTMP or RTMPS. For stereo AAC audio, its recommendation is 128 kbps at 44.1 kHz. YouTube’s live encoder settings do not state a publication year.
Allow upload headroom
YouTube recommends testing upload speed and keeping available upload capacity above the stream bitrate, with about 20% headroom. For a 50 Mbps H.264 video setting, that means planning for about 60 Mbps of available upload capacity before allowing for other devices or services using the connection. That figure is arithmetic from YouTube’s headroom guidance, not a separate YouTube benchmark. Check upload—not just download—speed, and test while the network is carrying its usual traffic. YouTube recommends preparing and testing the encoder in advance.

Check that the source and computer can sustain 4K60
In OBS, set the output (scaled) resolution to 3840Ă—2160 and the common FPS value to 60. Do so only if the source can provide the intended image and motion, the encoder can handle the workload, and the network can sustain the bitrate. Increasing output resolution does not add detail that was not captured in the source.
OBS notes that 60-fps streaming can demand considerably more system resources than 30 fps. Test the actual production on your own equipment. If a suitable hardware encoder is available, using it can reduce CPU workload, but encoding capability and quality differ across hardware generations. OBS Studio’s overview and hardware encoding guidance explain the relevant trade-offs.

Set SDR color correctly
For 4K SDR, YouTube specifies Rec. 709 and 8-bit. Do not turn on HDR unless the source, encoder and full production workflow are configured for HDR; HDR has different requirements and is not necessary just to stream 4K60.
Create the YouTube stream and connect OBS
- Create or schedule the event. In YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule the live stream. YouTube’s encoder workflow supports external audio and video hardware. YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance describes the process.
- Copy the stream details into OBS. Copy the stream URL and stream key from the Control Room into OBS’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it, and reset it if it is compromised. YouTube normally detects resolution and frame rate; a custom stream key can use manual resolution settings when needed.
- Configure OBS video output. Set output resolution to 3840Ă—2160 and common FPS to 60. Choose an encoder supported by your hardware, then set CBR, the codec-matched bitrate from the table, and a two-second keyframe interval. Use RTMP or RTMPS as supported by the stream setup.
- Configure and monitor audio. Add the intended audio source in OBS and monitor it. For stereo AAC, use 128 kbps at 44.1 kHz. Listen for clear devotional tracks or live vocals without clipping; mute unintended desktop or microphone inputs. OBS provides desktop audio and microphone/auxiliary inputs, so check which sources are active rather than assuming only the music is being sent. OBS’s overview covers its audio and video sources.
- Run a full rehearsal. Start OBS before the scheduled program, check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages, and test the same audio and movement that will be broadcast. Keep watching the stream and listening to the output once the event begins. YouTube advises preparing the encoder in advance.
Choose 4K60, a fallback resolution or lower latency
4K is not automatically the best choice for every devotional program. Match the output to the source detail, motion, available bandwidth and computer capacity. YouTube publishes bitrate recommendations for lower resolutions too; use its table to prepare a lower-resolution OBS profile rather than guessing a fallback bitrate.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Keep 4K60 when the source, encoder and connection remain stable at the required bitrate and the extra detail or motion is useful to the program.
- Step down to 1440p60 or 1080p60 if the upload cannot hold 4K settings, OBS struggles to encode, frames are dropped or audio drifts. Save a separate OBS profile if you want to switch quickly between 4K and a tested fallback.
- Consider latency needs. YouTube does not offer its low-latency option for 4K; a 4K live stream uses normal latency. Normal latency is suited to a program that does not depend on quick audience interaction. If real-time back-and-forth matters, consider a lower resolution with a lower-latency mode; lower latency can increase buffering for viewers. See YouTube’s encoder guidance and latency settings guidance.
Check music and recording rights before broadcasting
Technical readiness does not establish permission to broadcast a devotional recording. Before streaming, confirm that you have the necessary rights to the music, performance and recording, and address any claims through the relevant rights-holder or platform process. The rights status of a particular Malayalam devotional video cannot be determined from its genre or from these encoder settings.
Troubleshoot common 4K60 problems
| Symptom | Likely area to check | Practical response |
|---|---|---|
| Dropped frames or unstable stream health | Upload capacity, shared network traffic or encoder load | Check upload speed under realistic network use, preserve headroom, and reduce output to a tested 1440p60 or 1080p60 profile if 4K cannot remain stable. |
| OBS cannot maintain 60 fps or video stutters | System and encoder capacity | Test the full scene and sources, use an appropriate supported hardware encoder if available, or lower resolution or frame rate until encoding is stable. |
| Audio clips, is missing or includes unintended sound | Input selection, monitoring or audio levels | Listen to OBS monitoring and the YouTube preview; verify the intended track or microphone is active and mute unnecessary desktop or auxiliary inputs. |
| Audio drifts against video | System load or unstable output | Repeat a full test at the intended settings. If the drift persists, reduce the workload with a lower-resolution profile and rehearse again before the event. |
| Stream key is exposed or no longer works | Credential security or incorrect key selection | Keep the key private; reset it in YouTube if compromised, then update OBS with the current key. |
| Viewers report delay or buffering | Normal 4K latency or viewer-side connection conditions | Remember that 4K uses normal latency on YouTube. If interaction speed matters more than 4K, test a lower-resolution stream with a lower-latency setting. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded devotional videos playing as a YouTube live stream without leaving a home computer running, StreamNeo is the cloud alternative. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the service loops uploaded videos from the cloud. It does not broadcast from a camera.
