Create an encoder stream in YouTube’s Live Control Room, enter its server URL and stream key in your encoder, configure the video to loop, then start the encoder and check the preview before going live. The PC and its internet connection must remain available for this do-it-yourself setup to continue broadcasting.
Before you start
- YouTube eligibility: Your channel must be verified and have had no live-stream restrictions in the past 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours, so check well ahead of your planned start. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance explains the requirements.
- Authorized media: Use footage and audio you have the rights to stream worldwide, including any music or other sound in the recording.
- A Windows PC and stable upload connection: The computer running the encoder needs to stay powered on and connected for the broadcast.
- Encoder software: YouTube supports encoder-based streaming, but the setup and looping controls vary by application. This guide does not prescribe or claim to test a particular Windows encoder.
Create the YouTube encoder stream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open the Live Control Room.
- Create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream.
- In your encoder, enter YouTube’s server URL and paste the stream key into its stream settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, use YouTube’s reset option and update the encoder. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
Prepare a looping beach feed
Add the beach recording as a media source or scene in your encoder, then use that application’s looping control if available. Configure the ambient sound as part of the feed only if you have the necessary rights to it. The exact control names and steps depend on the encoder you choose, so confirm that the source restarts cleanly after reaching its end and that audio does not stop or fall out of sync.
If your video is a documentary-style recording, make the stream title and description clear that it is a live broadcast of prerecorded footage rather than a camera feed. This helps set accurate expectations for viewers.
Choose settings that fit your upload connection
There is no single bitrate that is safe for every Windows PC or internet plan. YouTube advises choosing resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to suit a reliable connection, testing before the event, and monitoring stream health. Its encoder recommendations include constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval, and RTMPS. See YouTube’s encoder settings and recommendations.

- Resolution and frame rate: Select values your encoder can send reliably over the available upload connection. Higher settings require more bandwidth.
- Bitrate: Keep the outgoing bitrate within stable upload capacity, not merely the best speed shown by a one-time speed test. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom; interruptions can break a live stream. YouTube’s bitrate guidance provides the platform recommendations.
- Keyframes: Set the keyframe interval to two seconds, as YouTube recommends.
- Rate control and protocol: Use CBR and RTMPS where supported by your encoder and stream configuration.
A wired Ethernet connection from the PC to the router can avoid some local wireless variability if both devices support it. It does not increase the upload capacity provided by your internet service or guarantee uninterrupted streaming.
Test, start, and monitor the stream
- Before the event, run a test with the same video, audio, encoder settings, and network conditions you intend to use.
- Start the encoder’s output to YouTube and wait for the Live Control Room preview to appear.
- Check the picture, sound, and stream-health indicators. Correct any warnings before you start the public event.
- Start the stream in the Live Control Room and keep watching stream health during the broadcast. YouTube recommends preparing in advance and checking the stream before going live. YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover preparation.
Plan for the PC, network, and replay
Keeping the broadcast running
In the PC-based method, the Windows computer, encoder, and internet connection all need to remain available. A power interruption, encoder shutdown, or connection failure can interrupt the feed. YouTube notes that network interruptions can break a live stream, so monitor the connection and the Live Control Room rather than assuming a long broadcast will stay healthy without attention.

Do not assume a full 24-hour replay
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be archived in full. If retaining a complete replay matters, plan the broadcast and recording separately, and verify the archive behavior for your actual stream rather than promising a full-day replay. Copyright and channel-policy checks
YouTube’s livestream terms say: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the YouTube Terms of Service and confirm rights to the recording and every audio element before streaming. Music audible in beach footage is not automatically cleared for worldwide use. This is a practical application of YouTube’s terms, not legal advice.

Also ensure the channel is eligible to go live before relying on a scheduled start, and make the video’s description accurate about the nature of the content. A long-running stream does not itself establish that the content meets YouTube’s broader channel monetization or originality standards.
