Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFirst check where the controls appear: OBS’s own interface, or the video viewers see. OBS’s playback toolbar is not automatically part of the live output. If viewers see controls, look for a scene source that captures OBS or displays a web page or player; hide, remove, or replace the source that renders them. The right fix depends on how your loop is set up.
Find out whether the controls are in the stream
Check the actual scene output in OBS’s preview or program view. If you are unsure, make a short private or unlisted test and inspect the resulting stream. Seeing playback controls beside a source in OBS does not prove they are being encoded for viewers.
- Controls appear only in OBS: They are part of your operator interface. Deselect the media source or use the relevant interface command to hide its toolbar or context bar. In OBS interface strings, the labels include “Show Source Toolbar” and “Hide Context Bar”; wording and placement can vary by release. This changes the OBS interface, not necessarily the live output.
- Controls appear in the stream: Inspect the Sources list. A display or window capture may be showing the OBS interface, while a Browser Source may be showing controls rendered by a page or player.
OBS draws sources in order, with higher sources appearing on top. Use the eye icon beside a source to hide or show it. If you identify the source producing the controls, hide, remove, or replace it. If you hide a source and the controls remain, check other visible sources for a duplicate capture or player.
Fix the loop according to its source
One local video file
- In the scene’s Sources panel, add or select a Media Source that points to the local video file.
- Open that source’s properties and enable Loop. OBS describes this option as replaying the file when playback completes.
- Make sure the scene is not also capturing the OBS window or desktop with the playback toolbar visible. If it is, hide or remove that capture rather than trying to hide controls inside the media source.
A playlist of video files
- Add a VLC Video source and add the files to its playlist.
- Retain or enable Loop Playlist in the source properties. It is enabled by default in OBS’s guide.
- If VLC Video is not available, install VLC. For 64-bit OBS, the guide recommends a matching 64-bit VLC installation.
A web page or embedded player
An OBS Browser Source displays a web page inside the scene. If its controls are visible to viewers, inspect the source’s URL or local HTML to determine whether the page or player is rendering them. Browser Source has width and height settings and supports custom CSS, but that does not establish that CSS can hide controls on every third-party or YouTube player. Do not assume a universal player setting will work across different pages and embeds.

Keep YouTube’s break overlay separate
YouTube’s Live Control Room break slate is a distinct feature, not an OBS media playback toolbar. YouTube documents using the break slate as a Browser Source; if the break cannot be ended in Live Control Room, its source can be hidden with the OBS eye icon. This addresses that specific overlay, not ordinary controls from a video or player.
Troubleshoot what remains on screen
- Controls are visible beside a source in OBS, but not in the preview or program output: They are likely only in the operator interface. Deselect the source or hide its toolbar/context bar; changing those interface controls is not required to clean the encoded scene.
- The live output shows your OBS panels or controls: Check for a display or window capture that includes OBS. Hide or remove that source, or crop/replace it so the interface is not in the scene.
- Hiding one source does not remove the controls: Check the rest of the Sources list. A higher source may cover another, and a second capture or browser player may render similar controls.
- A single file stops instead of restarting: Open the Media Source properties and enable Loop.
- The playlist ends after the last item: Open VLC Video properties and retain or enable Loop Playlist; confirm VLC is installed if the source type is missing.
- Browser controls persist after you change OBS source visibility: Confirm you hid the correct Browser Source and inspect the page or player itself. OBS’s browser settings do not guarantee control removal for every embedded player.
- A break slate remains during a YouTube stream: Treat it as the Live Control Room break overlay and hide its Browser Source if the break cannot be ended there.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube loop rather than operating OBS on a computer, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; and the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
