If YouTube plays a different video after one finishes, turn off Autoplay on the device playing it. If the same video starts again every day, Autoplay may not be the cause: YouTube describes Autoplay as starting another related video after playback ends. The daily launch may be controlled by a device, playlist, schedule, or cloud service—but the service is not identified here, so its exact setting cannot be named.
First, identify what is restarting
Note what happens when playback ends or the next day begins. These patterns point to different causes:
| What you see | What it may indicate |
|---|---|
| A different related video starts immediately after one ends | This matches YouTube’s documented Autoplay behavior: “When Autoplay is on, another related video will automatically play after a video ends.” (YouTube Help: Auto-play videos) |
| The same video opens at a timestamp you watched before | It may be resuming saved progress. YouTube says, “When you play the video again, it will restart from where you were,” though resume behavior has exceptions. (YouTube Help: Video progress bar) |
| The same video starts at 0:00 at a regular time each day | That pattern suggests checking for a schedule, routine, startup action, or playlist on the device or service that launches playback. It does not establish which one is responsible. |
| You see “Video paused. Continue watching?” during a long session | This is a playback pause prompt, not evidence that a daily relaunch is scheduled. |
Record the device, the service or app launching playback, the launch time, and whether the video starts at 0:00 or resumes at a saved timestamp. Also note whether it happens on one device or several. Those details help separate YouTube playback behavior from an external launch action.
Turn off YouTube Autoplay on the affected device
YouTube’s Autoplay setting can differ between devices. Check it on every device where unwanted next-video playback occurs; changing it on one device does not guarantee it is off elsewhere.

If the same video still starts every day
Turning off Autoplay addresses automatic playback of another related video; it is not a confirmed fix for a specific video being relaunched daily. Check the device or service that opens the video for its startup, routine, schedule, playlist, or resume behavior. The service and device are unspecified, so there is no reliable service-specific menu path to give.
If the video resumes partway through rather than starting over, YouTube’s progress bar can show where viewing stopped for signed-in users on TV, computer, and the YouTube mobile apps. Progress may not update immediately; refresh the browser or feed if the indicator looks stale. Clearing watch history also clears progress bars. Watch history alone does not establish why a video launches on a daily schedule.

A “Continue watching?” prompt is another distinct behavior. YouTube says it may appear during prolonged playback with Autoplay enabled: after 30 minutes on mobile, 60 minutes on web, or 180 minutes on TV. These are prompt thresholds, not evidence of a daily restart schedule. See YouTube Help: Why YouTube asks, ‘Continue watching?’.

If your goal is to keep uploaded video running as a 24/7 YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a separate option; it does not diagnose or control an existing daily video launch. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the file as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month.
