You can loop classical music in OBS and send it to YouTube, but an OBS loop by itself does not make a stream reliably continuous for 24 hours. You also need a verified, eligible YouTube channel, rights to both the music and its specific recording, a stable computer and network, and a plan for monitoring interruptions. YouTube may not archive a stream longer than 12 hours, so do not promise a complete replay of a nonstop broadcast.
Before you set up OBS
Confirm that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Channel eligibility and activation are separate from configuring OBS. Check access in YouTube Studio before building the broadcast: YouTube live-streaming eligibility.
Clear the composition and the recording
A classical work may be old enough for its composition to be public domain in some places, but that does not automatically make a particular performance or recording free to rebroadcast. Assess the composition or arrangement and the actual recording separately. Confirm that your rights cover the territories you intend to reach and both the live transmission and any archive.
YouTube’s live terms require rights for the live content’s use on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Read the YouTube live-stream terms and keep written permissions, a track list and any required channel allowlisting confirmation.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party material. If it identifies material that remains in the stream, it may replace the broadcast with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. A license does not guarantee uninterrupted transmission: a rights holder may also need to allowlist your channel through Content ID. Claims can arrive after a live broadcast ends, so test the exact repertoire before relying on it for a long stream. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright.
Create the YouTube encoder stream
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream. If you are new to live streaming, allow time for channel activation before the planned broadcast.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the details from the Live Control Room. YouTube describes the key as the credential that lets an encoder send a feed to your channel; keep it private and reset it if compromised. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and stream settings guidance.
- Check the stream preview before publishing. Start the encoder early enough to see the preview in Live Control Room, then verify the watch page, image and sound. Use an unlisted test where appropriate so you can check the setup without presenting it as the finished broadcast.
The sources for this setup establish the stream URL and key workflow, but do not prescribe one bitrate, resolution or keyframe interval for every connection and stream. Choose encoder settings that your available upload connection can sustain, leave bandwidth headroom, and check YouTube’s live status and preview rather than assuming the computer’s local output is reaching viewers correctly.

Build a looping music scene in OBS
One long audio file
- In OBS, create a scene and add an authorized cover image or other visual as a source.
- Add the audio with Sources > + > Media Source, select the file and enable Loop.
- Check the Audio Mixer meters while it plays. Listen for clipping, unintended silence and any abrupt or silent boundary when the file restarts.
OBS Media Source supports MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV audio files. Its behavior and controls are documented in the OBS Media Sources guide.
Multiple files as a playlist
- Install VLC before configuring the source.
- In OBS, add VLC Video as a source and select the playlist files.
- Enable Loop Playlist. Use Shuffle Playlist only if you want the order randomized.
- Test several transitions, including the last-to-first transition, and check for gaps, silence or unexpected changes in level.
OBS documents the VLC Video playlist controls in its Media Sources guide. A loop or playlist controls playback; it is not a backup stream or a recovery plan.

Test, start and monitor the broadcast
OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends setting up sources, checking Audio Mixer meters and testing a short stream before the real broadcast. YouTube also advises preparing in advance and continuously monitoring audio and video quality. Use this sequence:
- Run a short test. Confirm the intended visual is visible and the music is audible on the YouTube preview and watch page—not just in OBS.
- Check the whole playback cycle. For a single file, observe a loop boundary. For a playlist, listen through multiple transitions and confirm the list continues as intended.
- Start the encoder ahead of the scheduled start. Wait for the Live Control Room preview and check stream status before making the broadcast public.
- Monitor while live. Watch for connection or audio/video warnings and verify that playback continues. YouTube’s advice on preparation and quality monitoring is in its live-streaming tips and streaming troubleshooting guidance.
A 24-hour broadcast depends on more than OBS playing a file: the computer, power, network, encoder and YouTube ingestion all need to keep working. YouTube recommends testing the setup, leaving upload bandwidth headroom and monitoring quality; those measures do not guarantee uninterrupted delivery. Decide in advance who will notice a failure and what they will do. These sources do not validate a particular 24/7 failover design.

Plan separately for the replay
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its archive guidance warns that a stream over 12 hours may not be captured at all and recommends keeping a local backup. A continuous 24-hour broadcast therefore should not be presented as guaranteed to produce a complete replay. If an archive matters, consider shorter sessions, record locally, and check each archive after the session.

Troubleshoot common problems
- You cannot start a live stream: confirm channel verification and that no live-streaming restriction applies from the preceding 90 days. Resolve eligibility or activation issues in YouTube Studio before troubleshooting OBS.
- YouTube receives no feed: check that OBS is using the stream URL and key from the intended YouTube stream. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- The preview has no sound: check the source’s selected file and playback state, then watch the OBS Audio Mixer meters. If the meters move but YouTube is silent, check the preview and watch page and revisit the stream’s audio configuration.
- The music stops or repeats unexpectedly: confirm that Loop is enabled for Media Source or Loop Playlist for VLC Video. Test the file boundary or playlist transitions before going live.
- The stream is interrupted over music: investigate YouTube’s copyright notice and the rights for the specific recording. A license may not prevent interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted by the rights holder through Content ID.
- The stream drops or quality degrades: check the Live Control Room status, connection and available upload headroom. Restore the feed and monitor it; a looping source does not restart a failed encoder or connection by itself.
- The full broadcast is missing from archives: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Keep a local recording and use shorter sessions when a complete YouTube replay is important.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping an uploaded video or playlist live on YouTube; it is not a camera-based broadcast. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection staying on. Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encoding or quality tiers; it also includes 10 GB storage per slot (pooled across active slots), looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The first day is free with no card, once per account. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month.
For an Indian channel, UPI and cards are supported; worldwide checkout uses cards. The other available durations are daily, weekly, six months and yearly, and plans can be cancelled any time. Five or more slots require contacting support. StreamNeo does not clear music rights or guarantee that YouTube will keep copyrighted material live, so the same licensing checks apply.
