How to work through the word overlaps
Connections asks you to divide 16 words into four groups of four linked by a shared theme. A useful approach is to start with the clearest shared meanings, then check whether remaining words form familiar phrases or word combinations.
#1 Best Overall
Start with the direct verb meanings
CLOSE, PLUG, SEAL, and STOP all describe ways to block an opening, making the yellow set a direct vocabulary match. DELIVER, GIVE, PRESENT, and PRONOUNCE are also verbs, but their shared idea is putting something forward or making it known as an announcement.
Test the shared word “language”
BODY, PROGRAMMING, SIGN, and SPOKEN each pair naturally with “language.” Thinking of the full phrases helps distinguish this set from other plausible combinations among the words.
Rank #2
Check the “I ___” completions
For the purple set, place the letter I before each word: I-beam, I Ching, iRobot, and I Spy. This category depends on recognizing familiar terms rather than a shared dictionary definition.
Why “today” can be ambiguous
This answer is specifically for Saturday, November 8, 2025, puzzle #881. TechRadar says a new puzzle appears at midnight in each time zone, so a page labeled “today” may refer to a different puzzle depending on when and where it is read. The date and puzzle number identify this solution without relying on that relative label.
