Can a new Disney+ subscription be billed to an Apple ID?
No. Disney says new and returning subscribers can no longer sign up and pay for Disney+ through Apple, Google, or Amazon. This is a change to the billing route, not to Apple-device support: the Disney+ app remains available on supported iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV devices.
Downloading an app from the App Store does not require its subscription to be an App Store subscription. Older articles and screenshots showing a “Subscribe through Apple” or in-app purchase option are no longer current for new or returning subscribers. Existing subscriptions that Apple already bills are not affected.
How to sign up for Disney+ on an iPhone or iPad
Use a browser for the subscription, rather than trying to start a new Apple-billed plan in the app. Disney’s getting-started guidance supports signup from a desktop or mobile browser and requires a supported device, a valid payment method, and an age of 18 or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.

- Open Safari or another browser on your iPhone or iPad.
- Go to DisneyPlus.com.
- Choose the signup or plan option shown on the site.
- Select a plan, then enter an email address and create a password. These become your Disney/MyDisney login.
- Enter your payment details, review the subscriber terms, and complete checkout.
- Install the Disney+ app from the App Store if necessary.
- Open the app and sign in with the same Disney/MyDisney email address and password.
Button names can differ between Disney’s website, mobile app, and connected-device interfaces, so follow the current labels displayed at checkout.
Can Apple Pay be used?
Possibly. Disney lists Apple Pay as a digital payment method, but availability depends on the checkout screen, country, device, and account. If Apple Pay appears during direct Disney checkout, you can use it as the payment method. That is different from an Apple-billed subscription: Disney remains the subscription provider, and the charge will not become an Apple Account subscription simply because Apple Pay was used.
Disney’s current material does not establish that Apple Account balance, App Store credit, or Apple gift-card funds can pay for a direct DisneyPlus.com subscription. Do not assume they will work; use only payment methods Disney presents at checkout.

Managing an existing Apple-billed Disney+ subscription
If Disney+ appears under Apple Subscriptions, it is an older Apple-billed subscription. Apple, rather than Disney, controls its recurring payment and subscription controls.

iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Disney+.
- Use the available controls to view, change, or cancel the plan.
Apple documents this path at Apple Support.
Mac
- Open the App Store.
- Click your name in the sidebar. Choose Sign In if needed.
- Click Account Settings.
- Scroll to Subscriptions and click Manage.
- Select Disney+.
If Disney+ is not listed, the subscription may be billed directly by Disney, by another provider, under a different Apple Account, or by a family member’s account.
How to find who bills your Disney+ subscription
Check Apple
Look in Settings → your name → Subscriptions (or the Mac App Store account area) for Disney+. Search your email for an Apple receipt and review Apple purchase history. Apple says the Apple Account associated with a subscription is identified on the receipt; check other Apple Accounts used by household members if necessary.

Check Disney+
- Sign in at DisneyPlus.com.
- Select your profile.
- Open Account.
- View the Disney+ subscription or Your Plans & Billing section.
Disney’s account information page can show the plan, billing date, status, and—in many cases—the third-party billing provider: Disney+ subscription information.
Check your statement
If neither Apple nor Disney shows the subscription, inspect your bank or card statement. The company appearing on the charge is generally the company that must handle payment changes or cancellation. Apple recommends this approach when no receipt can be found.

How to cancel Disney+
Apple-billed subscription
Cancel it from the Disney+ entry in Apple’s Subscriptions settings. Do not try to change an Apple-billed plan’s payment method on DisneyPlus.com.

Direct Disney billing
- Sign in to DisneyPlus.com in a browser.
- Select your profile, then Account.
- Select the Disney+ subscription.
- Choose Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.
Disney says cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current subscription term. Direct-billed customers can update payment details through the subscription area using Payment Method → Change: Disney+ payment updates.
Another third-party provider
A subscription billed by another company must be canceled through that billing partner. Disney’s third-party guidance is at Disney+ third-party subscriptions.

Prices, taxes, promotions, plan names, and availability can change by country and date. Disney also lists Disney+/Hulu and Disney+/Hulu/ESPN bundles; choose a bundle only if you want the additional services. See Disney’s current U.S. plan page for the applicable offers.
Disney’s U.S. getting-started page says there is no free trial. A promotional price or bundle offer is not the same thing as a free trial. Disney says a Household can have up to seven profiles.
Common problems and the correct fix
Disney+ is missing from Apple Subscriptions
- It may be direct-billed by Disney.
- Another provider may be billing it.
- A different Apple Account may have made the purchase.
- A Family Sharing member may own the subscription.
- The subscription may have expired or been canceled.
Check Apple receipts and purchase history, other household Apple Accounts, Disney’s account page, and your bank statement.
You subscribed directly but expected Apple to cancel it
Apple cannot cancel a subscription that Disney bills directly. Use DisneyPlus.com’s account and cancellation controls instead.
A payment is declined
Confirm that the payment method is valid and try another method Disney accepts. First identify the billing provider: direct Disney customers change payment details in Disney account settings; third-party customers must contact that provider. Disney’s instructions are at Disney+ payment updates.
An old guide says to subscribe inside the app
That describes a discontinued workflow for new and returning subscribers. The current route is browser signup at DisneyPlus.com followed by app sign-in.
