To send a phone camera feed to YouTube Live with Larix Broadcaster, enable YouTube live streaming, copy the current server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio, enter them as a Larix connection, choose video plus audio, and start publishing. Larix can support an extended broadcast, but it is not a guaranteed 24/7 service: the phone, app platform, power, network and YouTube session all affect whether the stream continues.
Before you start: enable YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s encoder help explains the workflow.
- Create a stream or select an existing one in Live Control Room. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Keep the stream key private. Treat it like a password: anyone with it may be able to publish to your stream. Do not show it in screenshots or share it in troubleshooting messages.
Add YouTube as a Larix connection
- Open Larix Broadcaster settings, go to Connections, and add a connection.
- Larix uses one Connection URL combining YouTube’s server URL and your stream key. Softvelum’s example server is
rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2; the format is the server URL, a slash, then the actual key. Use the server URL displayed for your selected stream in Live Control Room rather than assuming the example endpoint is right for every setup. See Softvelum’s Larix setup documentation. - Choose video + audio mode for a normal camera broadcast. Softvelum specifically advises video-plus-audio mode for YouTube connections.
- If YouTube provides an RTMPS URL and your installed Larix version accepts it, use that URL. RTMPS encrypts the connection with TLS/SSL; do not construct or guess an RTMPS endpoint. YouTube explains the option in its RTMPS encoder instructions.
Start the stream and verify it
- Open the connection you configured and start publishing in Larix.
- Watch YouTube Live Control Room for the incoming preview or status. If the stream is scheduled or requires manual confirmation, wait for the preview and use YouTube’s controls to go live.
- Check that the picture and audio are present, then monitor bitrate and dropped-frame behavior during a short test before relying on the setup.
- To finish, stop publishing in Larix and end the broadcast in YouTube Studio where applicable. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; this is an archive rule, not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or a promise that a single archive will cover a longer session.
Can Larix keep a YouTube camera stream running 24/7?
Not with a documented guarantee. Larix Broadcaster is a mobile camera encoder, and Softvelum lists YouTube Live as a supported destination. A long-running broadcast is possible while the device remains operational and sends data, but the documentation does not establish continuous, unattended 24/7 uptime. YouTube’s under-12-hour archive rule should not be mistaken for proof that every live session is forcibly stopped at 12 hours.
Android and iPhone behave differently in the background
- Android: Larix’s FAQ says streaming can continue when the app is in the background until the app is explicitly closed. Actual behavior can still vary by device, Android version and app version.
- iOS: Larix’s FAQ says background mode cannot access the camera or encoder and permits audio only. Do not expect camera video to continue if Larix is backgrounded or the iPhone is locked; keep the app in the foreground when video is required and test the specific device.
For an unattended fixed installation, validate power continuity, heat behavior, network resilience, recovery after an app or device restart, and YouTube session and archive handling before depending on it. A phone mount or tripod can help keep framing steady, but it does not address those operational limits.
Set bitrate and video quality for the actual connection
There is no single bitrate that is right for every Larix stream. Larix describes its configured bitrate as a target; network problems can cause frame loss with RTMP/RTSP, and adaptive bitrate options are available. Softvelum’s resolution-based defaults are vendor configuration guidance, not universal YouTube requirements or a performance guarantee. Follow YouTube’s current encoder recommendations and test the chosen resolution, frame rate, codec and bitrate against the phone’s real upload connection. See the Larix FAQ and YouTube’s encoder guidance.

#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Use a stable, sufficiently fast uplink for the output quality you select; leave headroom rather than assuming a speed-test peak will hold continuously.
- Check the live preview, audio and dropped-frame indicators during a preflight. If quality is unstable, lower the output demands or improve the connection, then test again.
- Do not interpret a Larix default as a guarantee that a particular phone, network or YouTube stream will sustain that setting.
Troubleshoot when the preview does not appear
| Symptom | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No incoming preview in YouTube | The URL or key may belong to another stream, or the selected Larix connection may not be the one publishing. | In Live Control Room, verify the selected stream, then copy its current server URL and key into the intended Larix connection. Keep the key private. |
| Audio or video is missing | The Larix connection may not be set to video plus audio, or device permissions may prevent capture. | Use video-plus-audio mode and confirm Larix has the required camera and microphone access. |
| Picture stutters or frames drop | The uplink may be unstable or unable to sustain the chosen output; bitrate is a target, not assured throughput. | Test the connection, reduce output demands if needed, and validate the revised settings in Live Control Room. |
| Video stops after switching apps or locking the phone | On iOS, Larix documents background operation as audio-only; Android background behavior can also depend on device and software. | For iOS camera video, keep Larix in the foreground. Test the exact phone and Larix version before planning a long unattended session. |
| RTMPS connection fails | The endpoint may be unsupported by the installed encoder version or may not match the URL YouTube supplied. | Use the exact RTMPS URL shown in Live Control Room if supported; otherwise confirm the connection details and encoder compatibility rather than guessing an endpoint. |
Or let it run in the cloud
Larix is for sending a live phone camera feed. If your goal is instead to keep uploaded videos playing as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs that playlist from the cloud: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on; it supports uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
