To stream from Astra Streaming Studio to YouTube, get the stream URL and key in YouTube Studio, enter them in Astra’s RTMP or RTMPS destination, then send a private test and check YouTube’s preview and stream health before going public. This guide refers to Astra Streaming Studio by MIV Dev, an Android app—not other products named Astra. Its listing documents RTMP/RTMPS and H.264/AAC support, but not the app’s exact screen labels or a dedicated YouTube integration. The connection steps below therefore combine Astra’s documented protocol support with YouTube’s general encoder workflow.
Before you set up the stream
Confirm you have the right Astra app
Astra Streaming Studio by MIV Dev is described in its Google Play listing as a mobile streaming app with H.264/AAC encoding, RTMP, RTMPS, RTSP and SRT support, plus recording, picture and slideshow overlays, and scene switching. The listing was updated on 31 October 2023; features and compatibility may change. It does not establish a minimum Android version, a recommended handset, or an Astra-specific YouTube setup screen. Use an Android phone compatible with the app; the available evidence does not identify a required model.
Enable YouTube live streaming in advance
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, according to YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before the day of your planned broadcast.
Clear the music before broadcasting
A Hindi-language channel’s repertoire may involve different compositions, sound recordings, rights holders, territories and permissions. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” See YouTube for Artists’ live-streaming guidance for music channels. Confirm that the relevant rights holders or authorized representatives permit the specific recordings and compositions for livestreaming in the territories where you will broadcast. Giving attribution or having access to a song through a consumer music subscription does not itself establish permission to livestream it. A static image or slideshow does not change the music-rights requirements.

Connect Astra Streaming Studio to YouTube Live
- Open the stream controls in YouTube Studio. Go to Create → Go Live, then create a stream or choose an existing one. Use YouTube’s encoder-based live-stream setup instructions if the Studio layout differs.
- Copy the server URL and stream key. Find them in the stream settings in YouTube Live Control Room. Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it in screenshots, recordings, or public messages. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before streaming.
- Choose an RTMPS destination in Astra if available. Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the corresponding destination fields. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP. Astra’s listing confirms protocol support, but the available information does not verify the exact menu names, field labels, or layout in the app.
- Set up your audio and visuals. Check that the intended audio input is selected and that its level is clear without distortion. Astra’s listing describes picture/slideshow overlays and scene switching if you want a visual treatment for an audio-led stream. These production choices do not grant music rights.
- Start sending from Astra. Watch for the incoming signal and preview in YouTube Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, follow YouTube’s instructions about when to click Go live; sending an encoder signal and making a scheduled broadcast public are separate actions.
- Run a representative test before the public event. YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the intended broadcast and monitoring stream health and messages. Check the whole audio path, transitions and visuals—not just whether the app reports that it is connected.
Choose encoder settings for stable music playback
Astra’s listing confirms H.264 video and AAC audio, but does not document its complete settings interface or every available option. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance supports RTMP/RTMPS ingestion and lists H.264, H.265 and AV1 video options, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate (CBR), and frame rates up to 60 fps. For a basic music stream, use settings your phone and upload connection can sustain rather than selecting the highest available quality by default.
- Keyframe interval: YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Bitrate and resolution: YouTube publishes resolution-specific bitrate ranges in its encoder guidance. Choose a suitable pair there and test the actual upload connection; a stable stream is more useful than a high setting that causes dropped frames or buffering.
- Audio: Prioritize a stable input and undistorted level. Confirm the music is audible in YouTube’s preview during the test.
- Upload capacity: The cited guidance does not establish a minimum upload speed for this particular Astra-and-channel setup. Use YouTube’s recommended ranges and test from the same network and location you plan to use for the broadcast.
Troubleshoot common setup problems
YouTube does not receive a signal
- Check that the server URL and key were copied from the correct YouTube stream and entered in the matching Astra destination fields.
- Confirm that Astra is set to a protocol supported by both sides; try RTMPS when available, as YouTube recommends it.
- Verify the phone has a working internet connection, then check the YouTube Live Control Room for an incoming signal.
- If the key was exposed or may be incorrect, reset it in YouTube Studio and update Astra.
The stream connects but playback is unstable
- Lower the video resolution or bitrate to a level the phone and connection can sustain, then repeat the representative test.
- Check YouTube’s stream-health messages and confirm the encoder uses CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval where those controls are available.
- Listen for clipping or dropouts in the YouTube preview and correct the input level or source before going public.
You cannot start a live stream
Check channel verification and whether live-streaming restrictions apply. If this is the first activation, allow up to 24 hours for it to become available.

A music claim or restriction appears
Pause the broadcast if needed and resolve the issue with the relevant rights holder, label, distributor or authorized representative. The permission question depends on the specific composition, recording, territory and intended use; neither the app nor a visual overlay clears the music.
