Choose between an on-demand playlist and a live broadcast
If viewers only need to watch videos in sequence, create a normal YouTube playlist. It keeps uploaded videos organized, but adding videos to that playlist does not turn them into a live stream. A live broadcast is a separate event: an encoder sends a live feed to YouTube. Confirm the channel can go live
YouTube’s live-streaming help says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. It also states that a person must be at least 16 to live stream. Requirements can change, so check YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance before setup.

Make sure you have permission to broadcast everything
Use only video and audio that you have the necessary rights to stream. A video being publicly available—or already uploaded to YouTube—does not by itself establish permission to rebroadcast it. YouTube says live content must comply with its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service; the rights for a particular recording, music track, or territory depend on that material and your permissions.
Set up a cloud playlist stream
- Choose a provider and verify its India terms. Check that it accepts customers in India and supports your file types, resolution, video lengths, playlist order, looping behavior, storage needs, and desired stream duration. Confirm its reconnection behavior, YouTube connection method, channel security, full cost, support, and cancellation terms before uploading. Do not assume a vendor’s general feature description confirms every current term.
- Prepare your videos and playlist. Upload only media you are entitled to broadcast. Decide the playback order and whether the playlist should repeat. Check the provider’s documented file, size, and duration limits rather than assuming a video will be accepted.
- Create or schedule the YouTube live event. Open YouTube Live Control Room and follow YouTube’s instructions to create or schedule the event and obtain its encoder connection details. YouTube’s technical documentation describes the stream key as part of the ingestion URL and says ingestion details are obtained through its live interface or API (HLS ingestion documentation).
- Connect the provider to YouTube securely. Enter the stream key only in the provider’s official connection flow. Treat it as a credential: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Never post it publicly or share it in a screenshot.
- Test before going public. Use a private or unlisted event where appropriate, then check that the video and audio play correctly, the videos appear in the intended order, and the stream reaches YouTube. YouTube’s published setup guidance recommends private or unlisted visibility when not streaming at that moment. A test helps catch configuration problems but cannot prove how every later interruption will behave.
- Start the stream and monitor the first public session. Confirm what happens if a file is rejected, the playlist ends, YouTube ends the broadcast, or the connection is interrupted. Keep access to a way to stop the stream and check the provider’s documented recovery behavior instead of assuming all services restart in the same way.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- You cannot start a live event: Check channel verification, age eligibility, and whether the channel has had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Review YouTube’s current eligibility page for any updated requirements.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: Recheck that the event and encoder details match, and that the stream key was entered correctly in the provider’s official connection flow. If you replace or reset a key in YouTube, update the provider’s saved connection too.
- The video or audio is missing: Confirm the file meets the provider’s current format and media limits, then test playback before launch. Check that the source file itself contains the expected audio and picture.
- Videos play in the wrong order or stop at the end: Review the playlist order and loop setting in the service. Verify its documented behavior when the queue finishes; do not assume it repeats automatically.
- The stream stops after an interruption: Check the provider’s recovery behavior and YouTube event status. Restart or reconnect according to the provider’s instructions, then confirm that the stream is live again.
- A broadcast is blocked or interrupted over content: Review the rights for every video and audio track and YouTube’s applicable policies. Public availability of a recording does not establish that you can rebroadcast it.
