To get a YouTube Official Artist Channel (OAC), make sure your artist channel and music release meet YouTube’s criteria, then ask your label or distributor to submit the request. If you do not have one, contact a Music Service Partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory. YouTube does not promise a fixed approval timeline or guarantee acceptance.
Check whether your channel is eligible
YouTube’s requirements combine channel ownership, a distributed release, policy compliance, and a qualifying relationship with a music partner. You do not need to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) if you qualify through another listed route.
- You own and operate one YouTube channel focused on one artist or band’s music.
- At least one official music release has been delivered to YouTube by a music distributor or label.
- The channel complies with YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- You meet at least one partner condition: you work with a YouTube Partner Manager; you are in YPP; you belong to a label network that works with a Partner Manager; or your music is distributed by a partner listed in YouTube’s Services Directory for Music Partners.
YouTube recommends uploading at least one public video to the artist channel before requesting an OAC. This is a recommendation, not a core eligibility requirement, but requests from channels without public videos may be rejected or need extra verification. See YouTube’s Official Artist Channel guidance for current criteria.
Request an Official Artist Channel
- Confirm the channel and release. Check that the channel is dedicated to one artist or band and that a label or distributor has delivered at least one official music release to YouTube.
- Review policy compliance. Check the channel and its content against YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Copyright policies.
- Add a public video if needed. YouTube recommends having at least one public video on the artist channel. Do not treat this recommendation as a guaranteed approval condition.
- Ask your label or distributor. Contact the label or distributor and ask it to request an Official Artist Channel. YouTube’s guidance says: “Please contact your label or distributor to request an Official Artist Channel.”
- If you have no label or distributor, contact a listed Music Service Partner. Use YouTube’s Services Directory for Music Partners to find a partner that can submit an OAC request on your behalf.
YouTube does not document a direct artist application form, guaranteed turnaround, or automatic approval once you believe you meet the criteria. YPP is one possible qualifying partner relationship, not a universal prerequisite; it has separate eligibility requirements and an application process described in YouTube’s YPP guidance.

What changes when the OAC is created
An OAC brings together subscribers associated with the artist’s existing channel, YouTube-generated Topic channel, and Vevo channel when applicable. Once consolidated, the subscribe button and subscriber count no longer appear on the existing and Topic channels; subscribers can see the artist’s new music videos through the OAC.
This is specific to Official Artist Channels. YouTube’s general channel process does not merge or link separate channels, and an OAC should not be understood as a way to transfer every asset from arbitrary channels. Artists may have a self-managed channel, a partner-provided channel, a Topic channel titled “Artist Name – Topic,” and an OAC.

Set up and maintain the channel after approval
Use a consistent artist name
YouTube recommends using the artist or band name, ideally matching the name on the newest release. Use appropriate capitalization and spacing; avoid additions such as “Official,” “TV,” “Channel,” “YouTube,” or “Productions.”
Review the music sections
The Releases section is generated automatically. It generally puts the most recent release first, followed by full-length albums, EPs, and singles ordered newest to oldest. It features releases where the artist is listed as a primary artist; karaoke releases do not appear. An OAC can also display music-video content and a selected featured video.

If a release is missing or incorrect, YouTube directs artists to submit feedback. For a Vevo channel merge request, use YouTube’s contact form; direct Vevo content issues to Vevo. Once the OAC is active, update the artist image in YouTube Studio.
Use artist analytics
Analytics for Artists is available to people who own or manage an OAC. Its views can cover performance across the OAC, Vevo, or a label, and can include Art Track metrics. YouTube also documents OAC features such as consolidated subscribers, ticketing, and merch; feature availability and presentation may vary.

Keep the channel in good standing
An OAC can be suspended and revert to a standard channel if it receives a Community Guidelines strike or has content with limited features. YouTube says it is restored automatically after active strikes and limited-feature content are gone, provided the channel otherwise still meets program criteria.
