To lead a guided meditation live on YouTube, first confirm your channel can stream, then choose a webcam, encoder, or eligible mobile setup. Create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio, test that your voice is clear and your upload connection is stable, and use only audio you have the rights to stream. YouTube does not prescribe a meditation-specific format, session length, camera framing, or lighting style; those are your creative choices.
1. Check eligibility and choose how to stream
YouTube says live-stream creators must be at least 16 and their channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Verify the channel and check its status before planning the session. YouTube’s Help pages do not state publication dates for these requirements.
Choose the route that fits your setup:

If the computer’s camera and microphone are adequate, webcam is the simplest starting point. Choose an encoder if you need external equipment or planned visuals. YouTube identifies external microphones as typical streaming equipment, but does not prescribe a model or placement. Its general advice is that expensive equipment is not necessary to begin.
2. Create or schedule the YouTube event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create, then Go Live.
- Create a stream, or open the Manage tab to schedule one. A scheduled stream can provide a shareable watch page and allow viewers to set reminders.
- Choose the visibility—public, private, or unlisted—that suits your session. YouTube notes that the default visibility can vary by creator age, so check the setting rather than assuming it.
- For an encoder stream, leave time to test before the scheduled start. YouTube advises setting up at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the planned start.
3. Connect and start an encoder stream
If your encoder has a direct YouTube integration, use its YouTube connection flow. Otherwise, use the stream URL and stream key shown in YouTube Live Control Room.

- In Live Control Room, find the event’s stream URL and stream key.
- In the encoder, enter the URL as the server and the key in the stream-key field. Treat the key like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start sending from the encoder, then wait for the signal to appear in Live Control Room.
- Check the preview for picture and sound before starting the live event in Live Control Room, as applicable to your encoder’s workflow.
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That makes an archive likely for a normal meditation session, but do not treat the archive as your only copy of any recording you need to keep.
4. Test the sound, picture, and connection
Check upload capacity
Measure your outgoing upload speed; download speed does not show whether your connection can sustain the stream. YouTube recommends keeping 20% headroom above the stream bitrate. If you send both a primary and backup encoder, its guidance calls for capacity above the combined primary and backup bitrates, plus 20%.

Preview and check access
- Use a private or unlisted test if you want to check the setup without a public session.
- Preview the incoming encoder signal in Live Control Room and confirm the picture and sound are present.
- Open the watch page and check that it is accessible as intended, including on a mobile device.
- During the meditation, keep monitoring audio and video rather than assuming a successful preview means the whole session will remain trouble-free.
Make spoken guidance easy to hear
As a practical production check—not a YouTube specification—listen for intelligible speech over any background music and reduce room noise where possible. Test at the volume and with the microphone setup you plan to use in the session. YouTube does not provide a meditation-specific audio level or microphone-placement standard.
5. Use music only when you have the necessary rights
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; continued use can lead to a temporary interruption or termination. A license by itself may not prevent a live interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist.

The safest choices are original audio or music for which you have confirmed both the appropriate streaming license and any required allowlisting. If YouTube interrupts the stream, check YouTube Studio for the issue it lists and resolve it before your next session.
6. End the session and check the result
- End the broadcast in Live Control Room.
- Stop sending content from the encoder.
- Check the channel or Studio for the resulting archive if you want to review the session.
- If a copyright warning or interruption occurred, review the listed issue and address the rights problem before going live again.
