You can make Punjabi Gurbani recordings available around the clock on YouTube by running a continuous live feed from a rights-cleared playlist, using either a basic live source or an encoder for more control. The setup is not a promise of uninterrupted service: the encoder, internet connection, power, and YouTube session can all fail, so test the stream, monitor it, and plan recovery. The most important prerequisite is permission for every specific recording and arrangement you broadcast.
What you need before going live
- A YouTube account with live streaming enabled. For a first stream, verify the account and enable live streaming at least 24 hours ahead.
- A prepared playlist of recordings and a visual presentation, plus a mobile/webcam source or an encoder that can send audio and video to YouTube.
- Permission for the specific musical composition or arrangement, performance, and sound recording you intend to use, for the territories where you expect viewers.
- A person or process to check the stream and respond to outages, rights notices, or playback problems.
YouTube reported that over 30% of daily logged-in viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is a platform-wide figure, not a measure of Punjabi Gurbani viewership or a forecast for a new channel.
Clear the Gurbani recordings before building the playlist
Do not assume a recording is free to stream because its lyrics are scripture, its subject is devotional, it is traditional, or it is already available online. The text or underlying hymn, a particular composition or arrangement, a performance, and the sound recording can have different rights owners. Check the exact recording and intended territories; if permission is unclear, leave it out until resolved.
YouTube Help says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, and continued use of third-party content can interrupt or terminate it. Even with a licence, YouTube says the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid live interruptions. Get written confirmation of the relevant permission and allowlisting where applicable. An archived stream can also receive Content ID claims after it ends; that does not make unlicensed live use safe.

Choose how to send the playlist to YouTube
| Source | Useful when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile or webcam live source | You want a simpler live setup and do not need much control over a prepared audio-and-visual loop. | YouTube distinguishes these basic sources from encoders, which offer more customization and control. The cited guidance does not establish that a phone or webcam is suitable for unattended continuous operation. |
| Software or hardware encoder | You need greater control over audio levels, a looping visual, or the broadcast output. | It requires configuring an encoder and keeping its source and connection operating. No particular model, computer, or uptime is guaranteed by YouTube’s setup guidance. |
An encoder is optional, not a rights solution: buying one does not grant permission to use music. YouTube Studio provides the stream URL and stream key used to connect an encoder. Use the endpoint and values shown in Studio and your encoder; YouTube documents RTMPS as RTMP over SSL using the rtmps protocol and port 443, but most creators should not construct an ingestion address manually.
Set up and test the stream
- Enable live streaming in advance. Verify the YouTube account and enable live streaming at least 24 hours before the planned first broadcast, as YouTube for Artists advises.
- Prepare the media. Make a playlist from recordings whose rights you have checked. Decide what viewers will see while each track plays, and ensure any visual material and on-screen credits are also cleared and accurate.
- Create the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, create the stream and set its title, visibility, and description. Use an unlisted test first rather than beginning with a public broadcast.
- Connect the source. In the encoder, choose YouTube if that option is available. Otherwise copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s stream settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream.
- Run a full test. Start the source and check YouTube’s preview and stream health. Listen through multiple playlist transitions for silence, clipping, gaps, or sync trouble; check the visual loop and credits. Confirm that the unlisted stream behaves as expected before making a public stream.
- Go public and keep watch. Once the test passes, start the public stream and check that YouTube is receiving the source. In API-managed workflows, Google’s Live API documentation describes an
activestream status as indicating that YouTube servers are receiving encoder data.
Plan continuity, recovery, and replays
“24/7” is the intended schedule, not a guarantee that one encoder session will never disconnect. A network interruption, power loss, encoder failure, or YouTube-side issue can stop the incoming feed. Keep the playlist, stream settings, rights records, and restart instructions accessible to whoever monitors the channel. Check the preview after launch and after recovery; test how the source behaves after a connection or power interruption. Consider resilient power and network arrangements appropriate to your setup, but do not assume a backup device or connection will switch over automatically.

YouTube’s Live API documentation gives a technical example of a continuous 24/7 feed in which a separate broadcast can begin and finish while the ongoing video transmission remains live. This separates a broadcast event from the stream carrying audio and video, but it is an API-level workflow that may require technical implementation—not proof that a normal encoder session cannot disconnect.
If you need YouTube replays, plan to end and restart sessions before they exceed 12 hours, and keep a local recording backup. YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; this is an archive limitation, not a statement that YouTube automatically ends every stream at that point. DVR pause and rewind may also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours.

Troubleshoot common launch problems
| Symptom | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | Confirm the encoder has the stream URL and current stream key from the correct YouTube Studio stream. | Re-enter the Studio values, start the encoder, and wait for YouTube’s preview or stream status to show incoming data. Keep the key private. |
| The preview has silence, clipping, gaps, or out-of-sync audio | Listen to a full unlisted test across playlist transitions and inspect the audio and visual output. | Correct the source or encoder configuration, then repeat the test before going public. |
| A placeholder appears or the stream is interrupted | A third-party content match may have occurred, even if you believe the recording is licensed. | Review the rights for the exact recording and territory; contact the rights holder about the required permission and Content ID allowlisting. |
| The stream stops after a connection or power interruption | Check the network, power, encoder, and YouTube preview; a continuous schedule does not guarantee an uninterrupted session. | Follow the prepared restart instructions, confirm data is reaching YouTube, and test recovery behavior as part of future maintenance. |
| A long stream has no complete replay or limited rewind | Streams longer than 12 hours may not be archived, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. | For future archives, use planned sessions shorter than 12 hours and maintain a local recording backup. |
