Schedule the YouTube live event in YouTube Studio, but build and run the continuous song rotation in an encoder or cloud streaming service. Before going live, confirm you have the necessary rights for every track and intended territory: YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may interrupt them.
What “schedule” means for a 24/7 playlist
YouTube Studio schedules the public live event and its watch page. It does not schedule a sequence of songs as a playlist through this workflow. An encoder or streaming service creates the audio/video feed, manages the rotation, and sends it to YouTube using the stream URL and key from the Live Control Room. You can schedule an event in advance so viewers can find its upcoming watch page and request a reminder, then keep the feed running through the chosen encoder or service.
Clear song rights before building the stream
Do not assume a song is usable just because it is on YouTube, or because your channel is monetized. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants. Read the YouTube Livestream terms and conditions and clear the exact repertoire, territories, and livestream use with the relevant rights holders before launch.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the content continues, it may interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party material to ask the rights owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A license by itself may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted. Rights and territorial permissions differ by track, so there is no safe universal list of Indian-language songs or licenses that applies to every channel.

Choose how the playlist feed will run
The feed can be produced by local software, dedicated encoder hardware, or a cloud streaming service. YouTube documents these encoder categories and lists Gyre as an example of a cloud-based option for streaming prerecorded videos; that listing is not an endorsement. Compare providers against your operating needs rather than assuming a category guarantees a particular feature.
| Option | Where the feed runs | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | On a computer you operate | Playlist and transition controls, whether the computer and connection can remain available, monitoring, recovery after power or network loss, and archive handling. |
| Hardware encoder | On dedicated encoding equipment | How it handles your playlist source, monitoring and recovery behavior, archive handling, and ongoing operating cost. |
| Cloud streaming service | In the provider’s cloud environment | Support for the intended always-on schedule, playlist management, recovery and alerts, archive handling, price, and who controls the YouTube stream key. |
YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not compare the reliability, prices, or playlist features of specific services. Check current provider documentation for those details before choosing.

Set up and schedule the YouTube stream
- Enable livestreaming: Confirm the channel is eligible and enable live streaming if it has not been enabled before. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- Prepare the rotation: In your chosen encoder or streaming workflow, assemble the songs and verify the audio source, visuals, order, and transitions. Confirm that you have cleared rights for the material and territories you intend to stream.
- Schedule the event: In YouTube Studio, go to Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream. Reuse previous settings or create a new stream, then set the event metadata, privacy, and other stream settings. Share the upcoming watch page if you want viewers to find it and request a reminder.
- Connect the encoder: Get the stream URL and key from the Live Control Room and enter them in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: it is the credential that lets the encoder send the feed. Do not disclose it publicly.
- Preview before starting: Check the Live Control Room preview and confirm the watch page is accessible. YouTube’s event guidance recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes in advance. These are general event recommendations, not a guarantee for continuous operation.
- Monitor and test recovery: Check the stream’s audio and video after it starts. If you use backup encoding, test failover rather than assuming it works. Keep any local archive under observation if you rely on one.
Plan for continuous operation and archives
A 24/7 schedule depends on the encoder or service continuing to send a feed; scheduling the event alone does not keep that feed running. Consider what happens if the local computer loses power or its internet connection, whether the service can recover after YouTube drops the stream, how you will detect a failure, and whether you need an archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that one indefinitely running stream will produce a single complete archive, so plan archive handling separately.

Troubleshooting common problems
- Livestreaming is not available yet: If the channel has not streamed before, enable the feature and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- The encoder is not sending a feed: Check that it has the stream URL and key from the scheduled event’s Live Control Room, and that the playlist source is playing. Keep the key private.
- The scheduled watch page exists, but songs are not playing: The Studio event schedules the live page; the encoder or service must separately produce the playlist feed and send it.
- The live stream is interrupted or replaced: A third-party content match may have triggered enforcement. Review the rights for the matched material and, if it is licensed, ask the rights owner about adding your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- A backup encoder does not take over: Test failover deliberately before relying on it for continuous operation; YouTube’s general guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 service.
- You cannot find one complete archive: YouTube’s stated automatic archiving rule applies to streams under 12 hours. Do not assume a single continuous stream will be archived as one complete recording.
