Schedule the public event in YouTube Studio, configure OBS to send its feed to that event, and use Advanced Scene Switcher to schedule the OBS actions that control playlist playback. These are separate jobs: the plugin schedules actions inside OBS; it does not create or publish the YouTube event for you. Plan to check the Live Control Room preview and, unless you have deliberately configured and tested YouTube’s auto-start behavior, click Go live there.
What you are scheduling—and where
YouTube Studio controls the event viewers can find and receive reminders for. Advanced Scene Switcher controls actions in OBS, such as actions tied to a date and time or media playback. OBS is the encoder that sends video and audio to the scheduled event using that event’s stream URL and stream key.
- YouTube Studio: creates the scheduled live event and its viewer-facing watch page.
- OBS: supplies the video and audio feed to the event.
- Advanced Scene Switcher: automates configured OBS actions and macros; it is not a YouTube event scheduler.
The plugin documents date/time conditions, media conditions and actions, and a Macro Schedule tab. The exact macro depends on how your playlist is built and what should happen between items, so there is no single verified macro recipe that fits every OBS setup.
Before you begin
- Install OBS Studio and a compatible Advanced Scene Switcher release. The OBS resource listing reports plugin version 1.36.1, updated August 7, 2026, with OBS Studio 31.1.1 as the minimum and Windows, macOS, and Linux support. Plugin requirements can change; check the listing before installing or updating.
- In YouTube Studio, confirm your channel is able to live stream and that you can access Live Control Room.
- Prepare the media files and OBS scenes or sources that make up the playlist. Confirm that the files are available to the computer running OBS.
- Allow time to rehearse the complete event. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead, starting it at least 15 minutes before the event, and checking the preview; these are recommendations, not mandatory universal timings.
Schedule the YouTube event
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Choose Manage, then schedule a stream. Create a new event or reuse settings where appropriate.
- Set the event’s title, description, visibility, and scheduled date and time. Check the time zone and audience settings before saving.
- Open the event’s stream settings and note its stream URL and stream key. Use the credentials belonging to this scheduled event, not a different stream. Keep the key private: YouTube describes it as the encoder’s password and address. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room.
A scheduled event can appear as upcoming, letting viewers open its watch page and opt in to reminders before the broadcast starts.

Connect OBS to that event
- In OBS, open Settings and select Stream.
- Choose the YouTube service and the connection method that lets you enter the event’s server/stream URL and stream key. If OBS offers account connection instead, make sure the selected destination is the scheduled event; the event-specific URL and key are the clearest way to match an encoder feed to its event.
- Enter the stream URL and key copied from the scheduled event, then apply the settings. Do not include the key in screenshots, recordings, or public notes.
- Set up your scenes and media sources, then verify both video and audio locally in OBS. Use the output settings appropriate to your connection and channel; this workflow does not prescribe a universal bitrate or resolution.
Build and schedule playlist actions in Advanced Scene Switcher
- Open Advanced Scene Switcher in OBS and identify the media sources, scenes, and transitions involved in your playlist.
- Create macros for the actions you actually need. The plugin documents media as a condition and action type, and date and time as a condition type. For example, a time condition can govern when a configured macro is eligible to run, while media-related logic can respond to playback state. Choose conditions and actions based on your source type and intended sequence.
- Use the plugin’s Macro Schedule tab, if it is present in your installed version, to schedule macro actions for the intended date and time. The update history says the tab was introduced in version 1.34.0. Back up plugin settings before changing an established production setup.
- Check interactions between macros, scene changes, and media playback. Avoid assuming a macro built for one playlist source will behave the same way with another; the plugin listing does not provide a universal turnkey playlist configuration.
Rehearse, then start the broadcast
- Start OBS streaming early enough to inspect the event before its scheduled start. YouTube recommends starting the encoder at least 15 minutes beforehand.
- In Live Control Room, select the scheduled event and confirm its preview shows the intended video and audio. Check that the feed is arriving at the right event, not merely that OBS says it is streaming.
- Verify the playlist’s first item, audio levels, scene transitions, and the timing of scheduled macros. Test the exact auto-start and auto-stop settings you plan to use.
- At the event time, follow YouTube’s documented Go live step unless you have explicitly configured and tested auto-start for this event. A scheduled OBS macro alone does not publish the YouTube event.
- Monitor the broadcast and confirm that OBS continues playing the intended media. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume the same archive behavior for longer broadcasts.

Common problems and fixes
The scheduled event does not receive the OBS feed
- Confirm OBS is actively streaming.
- Check that the stream URL and key match the scheduled event, rather than another event or an older configuration.
- Open that event in Live Control Room and inspect its preview before proceeding.
The playlist does not advance or a macro does not run
- Check that the macro is enabled and its date/time condition matches the intended schedule.
- Confirm the macro refers to the correct media source or scene and that the source’s playback state can satisfy its conditions.
- Rehearse the sequence in OBS; exact behavior depends on the playlist source and macro design.
OBS is sending video but YouTube has not started the public event
Receiving an encoder feed and publishing the event are distinct steps. Check the Live Control Room preview, then use YouTube’s Go live control unless auto-start is configured and verified for this setup.
The plugin tab or settings differ from instructions
Check the installed plugin version and its compatibility with your OBS version. The Macro Schedule tab is documented in the plugin’s 1.34.0 update history; back up settings before updating or altering a production configuration.

The stream key may have been exposed
Treat it as a credential. Reset it from Live Control Room and update the corresponding OBS configuration before the next stream.
Copyright, reused content, and documentary playlists
Scheduling and automation do not grant permission to broadcast the media. Use footage, music, narration, and other material you own or are authorized to stream, and check the rights and terms that apply to each item. A live playlist made from other people’s documentaries or clips may raise copyright or monetization concerns even if the files play correctly in OBS. Review YouTube’s applicable rules and your rights before scheduling; a technically successful stream is not proof that the content is authorized or eligible for monetization.
