To run a prerecorded playlist continuously over an Indian public holiday, schedule two things: the YouTube live event viewers will open, and the stream feed that plays your videos. A scheduled event alone does not make a regular YouTube playlist play as a live broadcast. You need an encoder or cloud playout service to supply the video and audio feed.
Before you schedule: check channel access and video rights
- Enable live streaming early. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and says streamers must be at least 16. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until the holiday eve. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Confirm you have permission for every video and audio track. A holiday theme or public-domain status of a composition does not automatically clear a particular recording, arrangement, image, or performance. YouTube can restrict or interrupt a live stream when rights issues arise. Use media you own or are licensed to stream and retain permission records.
- Choose the playback method. You can run encoder software on a computer, use an optional hardware encoder, or use a cloud playout service. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming; it says, “For higher production value events, we recommend professional-grade hardware encoders.” That is a recommendation for those events, not a requirement for every stream. - Decide how long the playlist should run. Check the scheduler’s timezone, whether the playlist loops or stops at the end, and its end-date behavior. These settings vary by playout tool. Verify the result in a private test rather than assuming the YouTube event controls playback.
Choose the holiday calendar that matches your viewers
“Public holiday in India” does not identify one universal closure calendar. The National Portal of India provides central and state/UT holiday calendars; it says the central holidays follow a circular issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. India Post publishes an All India list as well as postal-circle choices, while institutions such as the Supreme Court publish their own calendars. Pick the scope that matters to your audience, then confirm the year and date with the relevant official source.
For example, India Post’s 2026 All India list gives Republic Day as 26 January, Independence Day as 15 August, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday as 2 October, Dussehra (Vijay Dashmi) as 20 October, Diwali (Deepavali) as 8 November, and Guru Nanak’s Birthday as 24 November. These dates are from India Post’s 2026 holidays listing. They are not a substitute for a state, UT, employer, or institution’s calendar. For instance, the Supreme Court’s 2026 institutional calendar lists Dussehra holidays from 19–24 October and Diwali holidays from 9–14 November. Those are different calendar scopes, not interchangeable dates; see the Supreme Court calendar and the National Portal of India holiday calendar.
Schedule the YouTube live event and the playlist feed
- Set up the playout source. Add the rights-cleared prerecorded videos in their intended order. Configure the playlist to loop or stop as needed, and set its start, duration, and end behavior in the encoder or cloud service. Confirm the scheduler timezone. YouTube’s event scheduling does not itself create this feed.
- Create the event in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, select Create > Go live, and schedule a stream. Enter its title, description, start time, and visibility. If the audience needs to find it ahead of time, choose public; for a test or limited sharing, use unlisted or private as appropriate. Exact options can vary with channel eligibility and Studio’s current interface.
- Connect the feed to the event. In the Live Control Room, use the stream details and stream key required by your chosen encoder or playout service. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, and reset it if it is exposed. Make sure the feed is assigned to the intended scheduled event, not a different broadcast.
- Align both schedules. Set the event and the playout start to the same intended date and time, with their timezones checked independently. If the broadcast must cover a full holiday, set a suitable duration or end date in the playout tool; do not assume YouTube will keep replaying the source after it ends.
- Test privately before the holiday. Start a private or unlisted test, wait for the feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview, then check picture, sound, playlist order, looping, and viewer access from another device. Google’s Live Streaming Guide recommends testing the full setup privately in YouTube Studio. Monitor the stream during the event, especially at startup and around the scheduled end.
- Choose archive behavior deliberately. YouTube’s guide also describes publishing a live archive and creating a live archive playlist. Decide whether the recording should remain available after the event and check the corresponding settings before going public.

OneStream Live documents a workflow for adding prerecorded videos, connecting a YouTube channel, entering stream details, and scheduling a 24/7 broadcast for now or later with a selected duration. Its Help Center page, last updated 3 September 2026, states that this feature is YouTube-only, requires Enterprise, and has a maximum duration of 30 days per setup. Troubleshooting the schedule
- The event exists, but viewers see no video: the event and media feed are separate. Confirm the encoder or playout service is connected to the right event and that the stream key is current.
- The preview never appears: confirm the source is running, the stream key is entered correctly, and the correct scheduled event is selected. Check the encoder’s connection status before changing the event time.
- The playlist stops unexpectedly: inspect the playout tool’s duration, loop, and end-date settings. A scheduled YouTube event does not guarantee that a source playlist will repeat.
- The stream starts at the wrong local time: check the timezone displayed by both YouTube Studio and the playout scheduler; do not assume they use the same default.
- Viewers report access problems: verify event visibility and test the viewer link on a device or account other than the channel owner’s.
- The broadcast is blocked or interrupted: check for live-stream restrictions and rights claims. Replace or remove material that you are not authorized to stream, and keep rights documentation available.
