You can schedule a daily YouTube Live rerun, but YouTube Studio does not provide a documented daily recurrence switch. Create a separate broadcast event for each date, then use an encoder or playout system to send the recorded match to that event. The event schedule sets when the watch page is due to go live; it does not play the recording for you.
Before scheduling: check eligibility and replay rights
- Check channel eligibility. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance, checked October 3, 2026, says the creator must be at least 16, the channel must be verified, and it must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Get permission for the rerun. Confirm that you have the right to rebroadcast the match footage and any tournament production, player feeds, commentary, graphics, and music. Rights can belong to different parties; YouTube’s ability to accept a stream or archive it does not establish permission to reuse the content. The rights for a particular tournament match must be confirmed with its organizer and relevant rights holders.
- Decide what each day’s event should be. A separately scheduled broadcast is its own event and watch page. Decide whether each date needs a distinct title, description, thumbnail, privacy setting, and URL.
Schedule and run each rerun in YouTube Studio
- Create the broadcast event. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live > Manage > Schedule Stream. Choose Create new for a new event or Reuse settings to carry over settings from an earlier one. For each date, verify the title, description, privacy, category, thumbnail, and scheduled start time. YouTube documents scheduling a future broadcast, not a daily recurrence control. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.
- Connect an encoder or playout system. The broadcast is the scheduled YouTube event; the stream is the incoming audio/video feed. In your encoder’s stream settings, select YouTube if available. Otherwise, copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the encoder. Set the source to the replay file or to the output of a playout system that can play it. Scheduling the event alone will not start the video.
- Test the entire file and feed. Check that the match plays from beginning to end, that its audio is present, and that the encoder sends a stable feed. Follow YouTube’s recommended lead times: set up the encoder at least two hours before the event, start it at least 15 minutes before, check the Live Control Room preview, and confirm that the watch page works. Monitor audio and video during the broadcast. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Go live at the scheduled time. Start the encoder and wait for the preview. In the Live Control Room, select Go live when the feed is ready. At the end of the match, stop sending content and end the broadcast. YouTube says encoder streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived; do not rely on that automatic archive guidance for a stream lasting 12 hours or longer. See YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions.
- Repeat the event setup for each date. Reuse encoder settings where appropriate, but check each event’s date, metadata, privacy, and connection. Reusing event settings does not create a recurring schedule or start the replay automatically.
Automate daily event creation with YouTube’s Live Streaming API
For a recurring schedule managed by code, YouTube’s Live Streaming API can create separate broadcast resources and bind them to a reusable stream resource. Each date remains a distinct broadcast. The API manages event details and timing; it does not schedule playback of the match file or act as a video playout system. See Understanding broadcasts and streams, Implementation: broadcasts and streams, and LiveBroadcasts: insert.
- Create a dated broadcast. Your automation must supply the event details, including its title, scheduled start time, and privacy status. Creating one event does not establish the next day’s event automatically.
- Bind it to a stream. Associate the broadcast with a configured stream resource. A reusable stream can reduce repeated ingestion setup, but the event still needs its own correct schedule and binding.
- Start playout separately. Arrange for an encoder or playout process to send the intended recording at the right time, then monitor its feed. The API’s event scheduling is not a substitute for reliable file playback.
- Maintain authorization and monitor errors. API calls require channel authorization and live-stream permissions; broadcast creation is subject to API limits and errors. Plan for credential maintenance, missed starts, feed interruptions, and operator checks.
Choose a workflow based on how much you want to automate
| Approach | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule each event in Studio | Occasional or low-volume daily reruns with an operator available | Direct setup, but someone must create or manage each broadcast and start and check the feed. |
| Automate event creation with the Live Streaming API | Developers or operators who need repeatable event creation | Requires code, authorization, and API maintenance; it does not play the video file. |
| Reuse encoder stream settings | Events with consistent ingestion settings | Reduces repeated encoder configuration, but each broadcast still needs the right event timing, binding, and incoming feed. |
Whichever workflow you choose, treat video-file playout, event creation, and monitoring as separate responsibilities. YouTube documents the event and encoder process, but that documentation does not establish that Studio can create a daily recurrence or that any specific third-party playout product will reliably run the replay unattended.
Protect the stream key and keep the archive within YouTube’s stated limit
Your stream key lets the encoder send a feed to YouTube, so treat it like a password. Reused settings may carry over the prior key. If the key is exposed, reset it in YouTube and update the encoder before the next broadcast. YouTube’s documented automatic-archive guidance applies to encoder streams shorter than 12 hours; schedule the replay accordingly if you are relying on that behavior.

Common problems and fixes
- The event is scheduled, but no match video appears. The schedule created the YouTube event, not the replay. Start the encoder or playout system, confirm it is using the correct stream URL and key, and check the Live Control Room preview.
- The first stream cannot be enabled in time. Verify the channel and live-stream eligibility, then allow up to 24 hours for initial activation. If the channel has a live restriction, resolve that before scheduling the rerun.
- The encoder connects to the wrong event or fails to connect. Check the event date and stream binding, then verify that the encoder has the intended YouTube stream URL and current key. If the key was reset or exposed, replace it in the encoder.
- The replay starts late or misses the beginning. Start and check the encoder ahead of the event, confirm the source file is cued to the beginning, and verify the preview before selecting Go live. YouTube recommends starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event.
- The stream ends without the expected archive. Check its duration. YouTube’s cited automatic-archive instruction is for streams shorter than 12 hours; it does not promise the same behavior for longer streams.
- A replay is blocked, claimed, or unavailable. Recheck permissions for the match, production feed, commentary, graphics, and music. A scheduled event and working encoder do not grant rebroadcast rights.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running without leaving an encoder computer on at home, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than a camera feed, and it streams to YouTube.
- Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs from the cloud.
- Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded, at one price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month.
Check that your tournament footage is cleared for repeated rebroadcast before uploading it. Start your free StreamNeo day.
