To schedule a 24/7 Sikh shabad kirtan broadcast, create a YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder with the event’s server URL and stream key, then preview the feed and start the event. A continuous stream needs more planning than a normal event: YouTube warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and every recording, performance, arrangement, and backing track must be cleared for broadcast.

Before scheduling: check channel eligibility and plan the broadcast

Confirm that the channel can go live

YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must have had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check eligibility in YouTube Studio before building the event: YouTube live streaming tips.

Choose the event format and visibility

Decide whether viewers should find the broadcast publicly, access it by link as an unlisted event, or keep it private. Prepare the title, description, thumbnail, and start time. For a 24/7 channel, also decide whether to run one long event or schedule recurring shorter events. YouTube’s guidance explains how to schedule and start an encoder-based event, but does not promise uninterrupted 24-hour operation.

One long event is operationally simpler, but it creates an archive risk and may need an operator or automation to monitor interruptions. Shorter events can make complete YouTube replays more practical, but require a restart plan and clear notices so viewers can find each next broadcast. Compare these choices against your archive needs, staffing, viewer notifications, and the rights you hold for live use and replays.

Schedule the event and connect an encoder

  1. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live stream, select its visibility, and enter the prepared title, description, thumbnail, and schedule. Check the event’s auto-start and auto-stop settings; these can change whether an operator must click Go live.
  2. Choose an encoder. YouTube supports software and hardware encoder workflows. Expensive equipment is not a prerequisite; an existing computer and a suitable software encoder may be enough. Consider hardware where unattended operation, audio inputs, maintenance, or failover needs justify it.
  3. Copy the event’s connection details. In the Live Control Room, get the YouTube Live server URL and stream key, then enter them in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in Studio and update the encoder before sending another feed. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and live stream settings.
  4. Set and verify the outgoing video and audio. Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for your resolution and encoder. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, and AAC or MP3 audio options. It recommends constant bitrate encoding and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. Use RTMPS where your encoder supports the recommended protocol.
  5. Budget upload capacity. The total outgoing bitrate must fit your actual upload capacity. YouTube recommends about 20% headroom beyond the stream bitrate. Test the connection under realistic conditions, prefer wired internet where practical, and monitor stream health rather than relying on a one-time speed test. Details are in YouTube’s streaming tips.
  6. Start the encoder before the scheduled event. Wait for the feed to appear in the Live Control Room preview. Check the picture, audio level, and stream health; then click Go live when ready, unless the event’s configured auto-start behavior handles that step.

Test the kirtan audio path and continuity plan

Test the actual source that will be broadcast—not just a sample video in the encoder. Listen for clipping, hum, dropouts, silence between tracks, and an unbalanced mix. A dedicated audio interface or preamp can help route a venue mixer or instruments into the encoding computer, but it is optional if the existing audio chain already provides a clean input. YouTube recommends preparing well ahead, previewing the event, monitoring audio and video, and checking any local recording.

For an unattended installation, assess computer, encoder, network, and power stability, and decide who will notice and respond to a failure. A UPS may help with a short power interruption; it will not protect against an internet or YouTube outage. Keep a local recording if you need a dependable archive, and verify the resulting file rather than assuming a live feed was saved correctly.

Plan around YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not promise a complete YouTube replay of a 24/7 broadcast. If an archive matters, record locally and consider dividing programming into shorter scheduled events. YouTube’s guidance is at Archive live streams; its encoder workflow also describes automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours.

Shorter events introduce extra handoffs: decide who or what will start each one, how the next event will be announced, and how to keep the audio and rights coverage consistent. YouTube documents event scheduling, not a guarantee of seamless transitions or uninterrupted 24-hour service.

Clear music rights before broadcasting

Do not assume that a shabad’s devotional or traditional status makes a particular performance or recording free to stream. The composition, arrangement, live performance, sound recording, and backing track can involve different rights holders. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to secure the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other participants in the territories where the content is used.

Before launch, make a track-by-track inventory and obtain written permission that covers the actual recording or performance, live transmission, relevant territories and term, and any archive or replay. If a licensed third-party recording is matched through Content ID, ask the relevant rightsholder or distributor to allowlist your channel. Licensing alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube says live streams are scanned for third-party content, and a match can replace the image, interrupt the stream, or terminate it unless the channel is allowlisted where required. See Copyright issues with live streams. The status of any specific shabad, recording, or territory-specific license must be confirmed with the relevant rights holders; seek qualified legal advice where needed.

Keep a 24/7 broadcast running without a home computer

StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the cloud loops the video, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.

Every slot includes one always-on stream, 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers. It is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is one free day per account with no card required. Plans differ by duration, not features; you can cancel any time. UPI and cards are available in India, and card checkout is available worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support. See StreamNeo plans.

Troubleshoot common failures

  • No preview appears: Check that the encoder is using the server URL and stream key for this exact event, that it is sending, and that the network permits the connection. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in Studio and replace it in the encoder.
  • Audio is silent, distorted, or intermittent: Confirm the selected input and routing, then test the actual mixer or playback chain and adjust levels to avoid clipping. Listen in the Live Control Room preview before starting publicly.
  • Stream health reports problems: Compare the total outgoing bitrate with tested upload capacity, restore the recommended headroom, and check encoder/network stability. YouTube recommends approximately 20% upload bandwidth beyond the stream bitrate.
  • The stream is interrupted after music matching: A license may not be enough if the channel is not allowlisted for the matched content. Contact the rights holder or distributor and confirm the channel’s allowlist status; remove or replace material if you lack the required rights.
  • The full broadcast is missing from replays: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use local recording and shorter events when complete archives matter.
  • The event does not start at the expected moment: Check whether auto-start or auto-stop is enabled for that event, confirm the encoder is sending, and follow the Live Control Room’s preview and Go live workflow.

Useful checks before the first public broadcast

  • Channel verified, with no live-stream restriction in the last 90 days.
  • Event visibility, schedule, title, description, thumbnail, and start procedure set.
  • Correct event server URL and protected stream key entered in the encoder.
  • Video settings, audio path, upload capacity, preview, and local recording tested.
  • Rights checked for each recording, performance, arrangement, backing track, territory, and replay; Content ID allowlisting arranged where needed.
  • Archive, event restart, monitoring, and outage response plans assigned.

YouTube’s settings and interface may change; check the linked current help pages and the controls shown for your account when configuring the event.
