A “Windows VPS” label alone does not guarantee that. Then enable YouTube Live, configure XSplit’s YouTube output, and test the exact loop and recovery behavior before leaving it unattended.
Check whether the Windows VPS can run XSplit
XSplit describes Broadcaster as Windows streaming and recording software. Its published minimum requirements include Windows 10 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, a 2nd-generation Intel Core i5 or equivalent, 250 MB of available storage, and a GeForce- or Radeon-class graphics card with DirectX 10.1 or better. It recommends a 2nd-generation Core i7 equivalent and at least 5 Mbps upload for HD; 500 kbps is listed as the minimum upload speed for its lowest streaming settings. These are XSplit’s stated baselines, not a certification of VPS plans or a guarantee of performance. See XSplit Broadcaster’s requirements.
- Ask the VPS provider whether the specific plan exposes compatible graphics acceleration or encoding to Windows. XSplit’s general requirements do not confirm compatibility with a particular virtual GPU.
- Confirm the plan’s Windows image is supported by the current XSplit installer. The cited requirements specify Windows 10 64-bit; they do not certify every Windows Server image.
- Check sustained upload speed, not only a headline network rate. Leave headroom beyond the bitrate you intend to send.
- Confirm you can interactively sign in, authorize YouTube, access a remote console, and recover the machine after a reboot.
Do not commit to a long unattended run until the actual VPS passes a full test with your chosen XSplit version and YouTube output.
Enable YouTube Live before setting up XSplit
Live streaming must be enabled for the YouTube channel before XSplit can broadcast to it. XSplit’s setup guide says first-time approval can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well ahead of the planned start. Follow the current channel prompts in YouTube Studio; account eligibility or verification requirements can vary, so check what YouTube displays for your channel.

Set up XSplit Broadcaster for YouTube
- Install and sign in. Install XSplit Broadcaster on the VPS and sign in. Use an operating-system image and configuration supported by the current installer; the published Windows 10 requirement does not establish support for every server image.
- Prepare the scene. Add the video or other media source you intend to stream, configure its playback and audio, and set the scene to match the desired output. XSplit’s product page mentions looping multiple images or videos for a BRB screen; that is not a guarantee that every media source or playlist will loop continuously.
- Set the output. In XSplit Broadcaster, open the Broadcast menu and set up or select the YouTube output. Authorize the relevant YouTube account when prompted. XSplit’s guide describes entering broadcast details such as title, description, tags, and privacy before starting.
- Choose output settings and test. Set a resolution and frame rate the VPS can encode and upload reliably. The cited requirements do not prescribe a particular bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or encoder setting for this setup. Check YouTube’s current encoder guidance and the live control room for settings appropriate to your chosen output; monitor encoder load, audio, and stream health instead of assuming the VPS can sustain a preset.
- Start a private or otherwise suitable test broadcast. Confirm the video actually repeats, audio behaves as intended, the output reaches YouTube, and the stream remains stable. Correct any scene, authorization, or performance issues before scheduling an unattended broadcast.

Test looping and unattended recovery
Do not treat a successful first start as proof that a stream will run indefinitely. The cited XSplit materials do not establish guaranteed continuous looping for every media source, automatic reconnection after a YouTube disconnect, or recovery after a VPS reboot. Test your own configuration before relying on it.

- Leave the intended scene running long enough to confirm the media returns to its beginning and audio does not drift or stop.
- Test what happens if the VPS network drops, XSplit closes, the machine reboots, or YouTube disconnects the broadcast.
- Check whether you can regain the remote session and restart the output after each failure. If you need automatic recovery, establish that behavior in the actual setup rather than assuming it exists.
- Review YouTube’s live control room during the test for stream health warnings and confirm the intended privacy and metadata settings.
Protect the documentary, music, and other content you stream
You are responsible for having the rights needed to stream every video, soundtrack, image, and other element. YouTube’s live terms require live content to comply with its Community Guidelines and require the provider to hold the relevant rights. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
Looping a recording does not by itself make it eligible for monetization. YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to livestreams and says content should be original and authentic rather than repetitive or mass-produced. On July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified and renamed its “repetitious content” policy as “inauthentic content.” Read the current YouTube channel monetization policies; the outcome depends on the channel and content, so do not assume a looped stream will qualify.

Plan for YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If keeping a dependable copy matters, make a local recording as well and do not rely on YouTube to save a very long broadcast. YouTube also notes limits to DVR rewind on very long streams. Troubleshoot common VPS streaming problems
