It may be possible, but YouTube’s support for multiple simultaneous streams does not establish how to configure OBS to send two different prerecorded videos to two separate live events from one PC. YouTube documents the event and encoder workflow; the exact current OBS setup—including whether one OBS instance can produce both outputs—needs confirmation in current OBS documentation. The guide below covers the verified YouTube steps and the checks to make before relying on a two-stream setup.
What YouTube’s guidance does—and does not—confirm
YouTube says software or hardware encoders can support multiple simultaneous streams. That establishes that multiple streams from a local encoding setup are possible in principle, not that a particular PC can handle them or that a particular OBS configuration can send two independent prerecorded files to two events.
YouTube’s documentation does not settle whether you need one OBS process or more, how to map two media sources to separate outputs, or what resources that exact arrangement requires. Do not treat the platform-level guidance as a tested OBS recipe.
Prepare the channel and two YouTube events
Check live-stream eligibility
Before configuring an encoder, confirm the channel meets YouTube’s live-stream requirements. YouTube Help says the channel must be verified, have had no live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16 years old. Create separate events
In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and use Manage to schedule each event. Make two distinct events if you want separate watch pages and independent event settings. Scheduling gives you watch URLs to share and time to prepare before going live. YouTube’s setup guidance is at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Configure the encoder-to-event mapping
Each event has its own stream URL and stream key. In the encoder, use the URL and key belonging to the event you intend that output to feed. A stream key is a credential that tells YouTube which feed to accept; keep it private, and do not publish it or include it in a screenshot. YouTube permits stream settings to be reused when creating another stream, but verify that each output is mapped to the intended event rather than assuming the same key should be used for both.

YouTube’s documentation describes entering the event’s stream URL and key in encoder settings. The exact OBS controls for producing two independent outputs from two prerecorded files are not established by that documentation. Check the current OBS documentation for supported multi-output arrangements and media-source behavior before building the setup around a specific number of OBS instances or a particular menu path.
Choose settings and check capacity
Upload capacity and encoding load
Two outgoing streams use your connection at the same time, and encoding them also places a combined workload on the PC. YouTube advises choosing a quality that is reliable for the available upload connection and running a speed test; its reviewed guidance does not give a specific bandwidth formula for two simultaneous streams. Leave headroom rather than assuming the connection’s headline upload rate will be fully available throughout the broadcast.

YouTube’s general encoder recommendations include RTMP or RTMPS, H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval. The appropriate bitrate depends on the resolution and frame rate selected for each stream. Use settings supported by the encoder and the event, and assess both outputs under representative load. Use secure transport and test representative content
Use RTMPS where supported. Before the scheduled broadcast, test with the same two files, output settings, audio, and motion you expect to use live. Check that both events receive the correct picture and sound and that the PC and internet connection remain stable when both outputs are active.

Preview, start, and monitor both events
- Start each encoder output early enough for YouTube’s Live Control Room to receive it.
- Open each event’s preview and confirm it is receiving the intended prerecorded video and audio before starting the live event.
- Check the stream-health status for both events. YouTube recommends setting up in advance and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event.
- While live, monitor both events’ previews and stream health; a healthy first output does not prove the second is healthy.
- When each event is finished, stop its encoder output and confirm the event has ended as intended.

Common problems and what to check
- One event receives the wrong video: Check the output-to-event mapping and confirm the stream URL and key belong to the intended event.
- One stream is unstable while the other looks healthy: Check available upload capacity and stream health for each event while both outputs are active; reduce quality if the connection cannot reliably sustain the combined load.
- The preview does not appear: Confirm the encoder is sending to the correct event’s URL and key, then check Live Control Room for that event’s incoming signal and status.
- The PC struggles under load: Test both outputs together with representative files and settings. YouTube’s general multi-stream support is not a performance guarantee for a specific computer.
- You cannot find a supported way to send two independent outputs from OBS: Do not assume a second OBS instance or an unverified plugin solves it. Confirm the current OBS-supported procedure, or consider a cloud encoder that fits the requirement.
