You can keep a Marathi music channel live around the clock by running an encoder on a VPS and sending its feed to YouTube over RTMPS. Before starting, make sure the channel is eligible, the music is cleared for the intended livestream, and the server can maintain a stable outbound connection. A VPS can host the encoder; it cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or resolve music-rights issues.
What the setup does
YouTube is the destination; the VPS is the sender. You prepare a live event in YouTube Studio, run an encoder on the server, and send the encoder’s audio-and-video feed to the ingest destination shown by YouTube. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming and documents RTMPS, a secure form of RTMP. Its RTMPS instructions require use of the rtmps protocol and port 443. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and RTMPS ingest documentation.
This guide stays at the verified setup level: it does not prescribe a VPS size, bitrate, resolution, FFmpeg command, or process-supervisor configuration. Those depend on the media and server, and no particular build or configuration is established here.
Check eligibility and prepare the source
- The YouTube channel must be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. YouTube also states that streamers must be at least 16. Encoder streaming is one of its supported methods. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
- Prepare the audio and video you intend to broadcast, and confirm you have permission for the planned livestream and territories. Channel verification is not proof of music rights.
- Choose a VPS that can run your selected encoder and maintain stable outbound connectivity to YouTube. Confirm its current transfer limits, acceptable-use terms, region, support, recovery options, and any uptime commitments directly with the provider; no provider or plan is established here.
- Keep your YouTube stream key private. Use the ingest destination and credentials displayed for your event; do not publish a key in a script, log, screenshot, or public repository.
Clear the Marathi music before launch
Confirm the rights for each recording. A song can involve separate rights in the musical work and in the sound recording, so identify the relevant owners and obtain permission that covers the intended livestream and territories. This is practical risk guidance, not a determination of what licence applies to a particular track.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match can trigger a warning or placeholder, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it; a copyright strike can also end a stream. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party material to ask the owner to add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted, even when a stream is restricted to territories where the creator says they have the necessary rights. Archived broadcasts may also receive Content ID claims after the live stream ends. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and contact the rights owner about allowlisting before going live.
For an India-based channel, the Copyright Act, 1957 defines “communication to the public” broadly and includes that right among rights associated with musical works and sound recordings. The Copyright Rules describe a statutory broadcast-licensing process for published works and recordings, but that context does not establish that a statutory licence applies to a specific YouTube stream. Check current law and seek track-specific advice where needed: Copyright Act, 1957 and Copyright Rules, 2013.

Set up the VPS-to-YouTube connection
- Create the live event in YouTube Studio. Select encoder-based streaming and note the ingest destination and stream key YouTube displays. Studio labels and screens can change, so follow the current prompts in your account.
- Configure the encoder on the VPS. Select your prepared media or live source and configure the encoder to send to YouTube’s displayed destination using RTMPS. The connection must use the
rtmpsprotocol and port443; use the exact endpoint shown by YouTube rather than substituting a guessed address. - Protect the stream key. Supply it only through a secure configuration mechanism available to your server and encoder. Restrict access to that configuration and avoid exposing it in command histories or logs.
- Start the encoder and check YouTube Studio. Confirm YouTube receives a healthy preview before starting the event. Follow the event’s on-screen controls to begin the livestream.
- Keep the process observable. Arrange supervision and alerts for encoder exits or ingest failures, and test how you will recover after a process or connection interruption. These are operational recommendations, not a guarantee of continuous service.
Plan for interruptions and recovery
A broadcast can stop because of an encoder or server problem, network failure, account restriction, YouTube ingest issue, or rights match. Monitor both the VPS process and the live event in YouTube Studio; checking only that the encoder is running does not prove YouTube is receiving a usable feed. Establish who will respond to alerts, how the process will be restarted, and how you will verify the event has resumed. A VPS provider’s service commitment, if any, is provider-specific; no VPS configuration guarantees 24/7 availability.
Preflight checklist
- Channel verification and live-stream eligibility are confirmed.
- Every track is cleared for the planned livestream and territories, and Content ID allowlisting has been discussed with the relevant owner where applicable.
- The VPS has been checked for outbound transfer limits, acceptable-use terms, and the resources needed for the chosen encoder.
- The encoder uses YouTube’s displayed RTMPS ingest destination, protocol, port, and private stream key.
- A test confirms YouTube receives the feed, and someone can respond to process, ingest, or rights alerts.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not operate an encoder on a VPS, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. Every quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
