You can run recorded cooking videos as a continuous YouTube Live program by sending them through an encoder: enable livestreaming on your channel, create a Live event in YouTube Studio, connect a computer encoder, cloud playout service, or standalone encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key, then preview the feed before going live. YouTube scheduling creates the event, but does not play the videos for you.
Choose where the video will play from
The playout system must keep sending video to YouTube for the stream to continue. Pick it based on whether you can keep equipment available, how much unattended scheduling you need, and who will handle network failures and monitoring.

These options put playout in different places; they do not remove the need to check channel eligibility, clear rights, and confirm the incoming feed. The best fit depends on your library, schedule, budget, and who can respond if the stream fails.
Prepare the channel and cooking-video library
Confirm livestream access before announcing a launch
YouTube’s eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it and check access well ahead of your planned start. See YouTube’s livestreaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup guidance.

Review every element for rights
Check that you have the necessary rights for each cooking video and everything included in it: music, still images, clips, and other material. YouTube’s Live Content terms place responsibility for necessary rights on the provider. A live stream can be scanned for third-party matches, and a match may result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination; see YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: if a rights owner has not allowlisted your channel through Content ID, YouTube may still identify the material during the broadcast. Resolve allowlisting with the rights owner where applicable, and do not assume that a video being prerecorded or previously uploaded makes it safe to loop live.

Plan the program and source files
Organize the videos in the order you want viewers to encounter them, and decide whether the program will repeat a playlist or run a scheduled set. Keep original files available. A long-running event should not be treated as a reliable single replay: YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end, while DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Set up and start the YouTube Live stream
- Enable live streaming. In YouTube Studio, complete channel verification and confirm the channel is eligible. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule the event. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. Scheduling gives you an event page to promote, and viewers can opt into a reminder; it does not supply the video playout. The relevant workflow is covered in YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Configure your playout system. For a computer encoder, add the video or playlist and select the encoder’s YouTube streaming destination. For a cloud service or standalone device, follow its current setup directions for prerecorded playback and scheduling.
- Copy YouTube’s stream URL and key into the encoder. Use the stream settings in your chosen encoder. Treat the key as a credential: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel, so do not publish it or include it in a video or screenshot.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Wait for the incoming video in Live Control Room. Check that both picture and sound are present and correct before making the event public or beginning the planned broadcast.
- Check the watch page and monitor the stream. YouTube advises setting up encoder streams in advance, previewing before going live, checking that the watch page is reachable, and monitoring audio and video quality. For a continuous program, arrange someone or a process to notice a failed input or connection and respond.
Protect the stream from avoidable interruptions
Allow upload headroom
YouTube recommends about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. Measure the available upload connection under realistic conditions, including other devices that share it. A connection that only just matches the encoder’s bitrate leaves little room for normal variation. See YouTube’s network guidance.

Test the complete playback chain
- Preview the first video and a transition to another video, including the sound level and aspect ratio.
- Confirm the playlist advances or loops as intended in the selected playout system.
- Check the event’s watch page from a viewer’s perspective before promotion.
- For computer-based playback, ensure power settings will not put the machine to sleep and that the encoder remains open.
- Decide who will notice a stopped feed and how to restart playout or reconnect the encoder.
YouTube’s recommendation to use a reliable network and monitor the broadcast supports these operational checks; having a recovery plan is particularly important for an unattended continuous stream.
Set expectations for replays and long-running events
A continuous 24/7 program is different from a short event with a complete replay. YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after they end, but that does not establish a complete archive for one uninterrupted 24/7 event. Its DVR guidance also says rewind can be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. If replay matters, retain your source files, check current Studio behavior for your planned duration, and do not promise viewers they can rewind to the beginning of a continuous broadcast.

Troubleshoot common problems
