You can run a 24/7 lo-fi radio stream on YouTube by sending a playlist through a live-streaming encoder, such as OBS, to your YouTube channel. First verify that live streaming is available on your channel, clear every track and visual for continuous live use and any replay, and plan for the fact that YouTube may not archive broadcasts longer than 12 hours. A local setup requires the computer and encoder to keep running; a cloud option is available below if you do not want a machine at home to stay on.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube lists encoder streaming as one way to go live; see Get started with live streaming.
- A playlist of audio and visuals that you have the necessary rights to broadcast on YouTube. Check that the rights cover continuous live use and, if relevant, an archived replay.
- A computer running streaming software and a stable internet connection for the local method. YouTube does not specify a particular computer configuration in the cited setup guidance; OBS provides its own Help Portal.
- Your YouTube stream key, which connects the encoder to the live stream you create in YouTube Studio. Treat it as a secret: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your stream.
Prepare the playlist and clear the rights
Check music and visuals before building the broadcast
Confirm that you are allowed to use every track and visual in a YouTube live broadcast, not merely to listen to it or upload it as an ordinary video. YouTube’s live-stream terms put responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights, for the live content worldwide. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions and confirm the scope of your own licences.
Terms such as “royalty-free” or “free to use” do not, by themselves, establish permission for continuous live streaming, worldwide audiences, or replay. If a track is licensed from a third party, confirm the permitted platforms, territories, duration, and whether the licence includes live and archived use.
Understand Content ID interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the live video with a placeholder and warn you; continued detection can lead to interruption or termination. YouTube says a rights holder that has licensed a track for a stream should add the channel to its Content ID allowlist. A licence alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted. See Copyright issues with live streams.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up the local encoder workflow
- Verify channel access. In YouTube Studio, confirm that your channel can live stream and has no restriction from the prior 90 days. YouTube’s current eligibility and setup details are in Get started with live streaming.
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Choose the encoder workflow, enter the stream details, and open the stream settings to obtain the stream key. Keep the key private. YouTube’s interface labels can change, so follow the current on-screen encoder setup instructions.
- Build the program in your encoder. Add your approved visual and audio playlist using the software’s available sources or media-playback workflow. Configure the encoder to send to YouTube using the server and stream key shown in Studio. OBS is one encoder option; its official help is at obsproject.com/help. The cited sources do not establish a specific OBS playlist-loop configuration, so check your chosen software’s current instructions and test the loop before relying on it.
- Check the signal before public launch. Start the encoder and inspect YouTube Studio’s stream status. Confirm that both picture and sound reach the preview, that the playlist advances as intended, and that the broadcast is not showing a copyright warning. Resolve any encoder or rights issue before promoting the stream.
- Keep the local system running. For this method, playback and encoding depend on your computer and connection staying operational. Monitor the broadcast and the Studio status, particularly after a network interruption or encoder restart.
Plan for a 24/7 broadcast and its replay
A 24/7 broadcast is longer than YouTube’s documented automatic-archive window. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a replay matters, arrange a separate local recording or other archive workflow; YouTube recommends keeping a local backup. Do not treat the platform archive as a guaranteed recording. See Archive live streams.
Also decide who will notice and respond if the encoder, computer, internet connection, or YouTube broadcast stops. A playlist that is meant to repeat needs to be checked in practice for the playback behavior of your chosen software; no single loop or automatic-reconnect setting is established by YouTube’s general encoder guidance.

Monetization is separate from music permission
Having the right to broadcast a track does not mean a channel or stream is eligible for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. Its policy distinguishes copyright permission from originality and reused-content eligibility, and says collections of songs from different artists may be ineligible for monetization even when the creator has permission. It also says repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible under its inauthentic-content policy. YouTube updated that policy wording on July 15, 2025. Review YouTube channel monetization policies.
Eligible YouTube Partner Program channels may have features such as Super Chat and Super Stickers, but eligibility and feature availability depend on YouTube’s rules and the channel. A lo-fi playlist stream is not guaranteed to qualify or earn a particular amount. See How to earn money on YouTube.

You cannot start a live stream
Check channel verification and whether YouTube has imposed a live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Review YouTube’s current requirements at Get started with live streaming.
The stream does not appear in YouTube Studio
Check that the encoder is using the current server and stream key shown for the intended live stream. If the key was copied incorrectly or belongs to another stream, re-enter the correct one in the encoder. Keep the key private.

The broadcast is interrupted by a copyright warning
Check the Studio warning and identify the detected material. Confirm that your licence covers live YouTube use; if the track is licensed, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel in Content ID. YouTube may interrupt a stream despite a licence when the channel is not allowlisted. See Copyright issues with live streams.
The playlist stops or the computer goes offline
Check that the playback source has reached the end-of-playlist behavior you intended, then inspect the encoder, computer, and internet connection. Test restarts and looping before treating the setup as continuous; the exact controls depend on the software you use.
The 24/7 stream has no YouTube replay
This may be expected: YouTube says broadcasts longer than 12 hours may not be captured. Use a separate recording or archive workflow if preserving the broadcast is important, and consult YouTube’s archive guidance.
