How to Restart a Restream Pre-Recorded YouTube Stream Automatically

Restream can schedule a pre-recorded YouTube event to air automatically and repeat a video a finite number of times. Here is how to set it up—and what that does not mean for recurring restarts.

To start a recording automatically at a chosen time, schedule it in Restream as a pre-recorded event, select YouTube, and set the date and time. Restream says the event will air at that time without you needing to be online. If by “restart” you mean begin a new broadcast every day or after an event ends, Restream’s documented loop feature does not establish that behavior: it repeats a video a finite number of times within one event.

Choose the workflow that matches what “restart” means

Goal Restream workflow Important limit
Start one recording at a chosen time Schedule a pre-recorded video event and select YouTube. The event airs at the scheduled time, according to Restream’s help documentation.
Replay one recording several times in the same broadcast Set a finite loop count. Restream documents up to 10 loops and a maximum 40-hour looped stream; looping requires an eligible paid tier. Restream’s scheduling guide and loop guide.
Play several recordings in one broadcast Build and schedule a playlist. Restream documents a maximum 24-hour playlist and 40 video entries. Playlists do not have a loop control. Restream’s playlist guide.
Automatically create a fresh broadcast on a recurring schedule Not confirmed in the Restream documentation cited here. Schedule separate events or ask Restream support to confirm whether the current product supports your exact recurring setup. A finite loop is not a new event.

Schedule one pre-recorded YouTube event

  1. In Restream, choose New Stream, then Pre-recorded livestream and Video.
  2. Select a video already in your account or upload a recording.
  3. Enter the event title and description, then choose the event date and time. If you want a finite replay, set a loop count only if your plan includes the feature.
  4. Optionally add a thumbnail and create an event post in advance.
  5. Select your YouTube channel and create the event.
  6. Open the live event in Restream if you want to monitor its stream or chat. Restream says the scheduled event airs automatically; you do not need to press Go Live at the scheduled time. See Restream’s scheduling instructions.

Restream says pre-recorded video streaming is available to all users, but storage and video-size allowances vary by add-on tier, and looping is restricted to specified paid tiers. Check Restream’s current plan details before relying on a particular upload allowance or loop feature.

Repeat a recording within one broadcast

Restream’s loop setting repeats a video a chosen finite number of times in the same scheduled broadcast. Its help article, dated March 11, 2026, documents up to 10 loops and a maximum stream length of 40 hours. These are product limits, not a guarantee that Restream will create another YouTube event when the current event finishes. Read the loop guide.

If you need a new broadcast each day, create separate scheduled events unless Restream confirms that its current service supports automatic recurring event creation for your account. The reviewed documentation does not confirm an indefinite or daily restart after a scheduled event ends.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Use a playlist for multiple recordings

A playlist lets you arrange recordings into one scheduled broadcast. Restream documents a maximum duration of 24 hours and up to 40 video entries. Playlists themselves cannot be looped, but repeated entries can be added while staying within the 40-entry limit. Separately scheduled playlists can run back-to-back as distinct streams with a two-minute gap; they are not one continuous playlist event. See Restream’s playlist guide.

Connect an existing YouTube event instead

If you already created the YouTube event and need to keep it, connect that event to Restream rather than creating a new one there. For Restream’s custom RTMP route, copy the event’s stream URL and key from YouTube, add the RTMP destination in Restream, and enable YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop controls. With auto-start off, you must manually click Go Live on YouTube after Restream begins sending the stream; with auto-stop off, you must manually end the event there. Restream says events created through the YouTube mobile app are not supported for this connection path. Its API integration is available to all Restream users; custom RTMP channels require a paid Restream plan and do not support Restream Chat and Analytics. Read the existing-event setup guide.

When possible, creating the scheduled YouTube event through Restream is the simpler route because the scheduling workflow and destination are handled together.

Check YouTube readiness and replay expectations

  • Enable live streaming first. YouTube live streaming must be enabled on the channel. Restream says first-time enablement requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait. See Restream’s YouTube guide.
  • Make sure you have rights to the recording. A scheduled start does not remove YouTube’s copyright rules. Use footage, music, and other material you have permission to stream.
  • Do not assume a long broadcast will be fully archived. Restream’s YouTube guide says YouTube archives streams under 12 hours. If the complete replay matters, keep the event below that duration and confirm current YouTube behavior.
  • Check the selected destination and schedule. Confirm the intended YouTube channel and event time before leaving the event queued.

Troubleshoot a scheduled stream that does not start as expected

  • No YouTube destination appears or the channel cannot go live: verify that live streaming is enabled on the channel. If this is the first enablement, Restream says phone verification and a 24-hour wait are required.
  • Restream is sending video, but the existing YouTube event is not live: check that YouTube auto-start is enabled. Otherwise, open the event in YouTube and click Go Live manually.
  • The YouTube event stays open after the video ends: check the auto-stop control. If it is disabled, end the event manually in YouTube.
  • The recording repeats only a limited number of times: that is the documented finite-loop behavior. Restream allows up to 10 loops and a 40-hour maximum, not a confirmed fresh event after completion.
  • A playlist stops rather than repeating: playlists have no loop control. Add duplicate entries within the 40-entry limit, or schedule a separate playlist event.
  • A mobile-created YouTube event will not connect on this route: Restream says YouTube events created through its mobile app are unsupported for the existing-event connection path. Create the event another way or ask Restream support about a suitable alternative.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the goal is to keep uploaded recordings looping as a YouTube stream without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is an alternative. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo runs the playback in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Start a free day with StreamNeo.
