You can set a scheduled YouTube live stream to send viewers to a Premiere when the stream ends. In YouTube Studio, create and schedule the Premiere first, then add it as the redirect destination in the scheduled stream’s settings. YouTube documents a Premiere as the destination—not a playlist itself—so this works when by “playlist premiere” you mean a Premiere video that also appears in a playlist.
What Live Redirect does
Live Redirect can move viewers from an ended live stream to a selected Premiere or another channel’s live stream. YouTube describes the destination as a Premiere, which is a scheduled video release that viewers watch together. A scheduled Premiere gets a public watch page in advance, where viewers can set a reminder, comment and chat. YouTube’s Live Redirect guide · YouTube’s Premiere guide
A playlist is not documented as a redirect destination. If you want the Premiere video to be in a playlist as well, that is separate from selecting the Premiere as the redirect destination.
Check eligibility before scheduling
YouTube Help currently says the channel sending a redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes. These requirements apply to the sending creator. Redirecting to another channel’s live stream also requires that channel’s permission; that permission condition is distinct from redirecting viewers to your own Premiere. See YouTube’s current eligibility and permission guidance.

Set up the Premiere redirect
- Create the destination first. Upload the video, schedule its date and time, and set it as a Premiere. YouTube creates a public watch page before it begins. Confirm that the scheduled Premiere is the destination you intend to use. Premiere a new video
- Open the scheduled source stream. In YouTube Studio, go to Content, then Live. Find the scheduled live stream and select Edit.
- Select the destination. Open Customization. Under Redirect, choose Add, then select the Premiere. Studio’s exact labels may vary by locale, so follow the current controls shown in your account. YouTube Live Redirect setup steps
- End the stream and check the confirmation. When you end the source stream, check YouTube’s confirmation that viewers will be redirected.
- Tell viewers what to expect. Ask them to wait a few seconds after the stream ends while the Premiere loads. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before the live stream.
What viewers will see—and why a handoff may not be automatic
YouTube describes autoplay moving viewers to the selected destination after the source stream ends, but does not promise that every viewer will transition under every playback configuration. In a May 3, 2022 announcement, TeamYouTube said viewers who had autoplay disabled would need to press play. That is historical guidance rather than a guarantee about all current apps and devices, so avoid promising an uninterrupted automatic handoff. If the transition matters, explain that viewers may need to select Play and validate the behavior in the viewing setup you expect them to use. TeamYouTube’s May 3, 2022 announcement
Common redirect problems
- The Premiere is not available to select: Confirm that you created and scheduled it before configuring the source stream. Then reopen the scheduled stream’s Customization settings and check Redirect.
- You cannot set up a redirect: Check the sending channel against YouTube Help’s stated requirements: more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guideline strikes.
- The destination is another channel’s live stream: That channel must grant permission through YouTube Studio. This permission is required for another channel’s live stream, not for your own Premiere.
- Viewers remain on the ended stream: Allow a few seconds for the destination to load. Some viewers may need to press Play, particularly if autoplay is disabled; ask them to check the player rather than assuming the redirect was not configured.
- The destination you want is a playlist: Select the scheduled Premiere video as the redirect destination. YouTube’s documentation does not describe redirecting directly to a playlist.
Or let it run in the cloud
Live Redirect is a YouTube Studio setting for handing viewers off after a stream ends. If your separate goal is to keep uploaded video playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo runs that stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams what you uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
